Top Local Tips for Lisbon

Two Types of Dining - and Price Comparison One: Local, ie: 95% of resturants serve the same thing and it is not very good (We travel a lot throughout Europe and usually like all local foods and are not afraid to try anything). The portions aqre huge and even if you don't like the food, there are always plenty of French Fries and rice on the plate. Two: Go to Olivier...it is outstanding and redeemed the whole city!!! It is excellent even compared to Parisian gourmet. Another great meal is a Cataplana which is a seafood stew cooked in a copper pot (I bought one...it's excellent!) Keep in mind that in Paris a cappucino is (low price) 3 Euros. In Lisbon, in a nice cafe, 1 Euro (high price). The same is to be said for dinners etc.

DO NOT trust taxis in the airport Painfully obvious but please ask the driver to put the meter on, or agree the price when travelling from the airport. The difference was stggering - 27 euros from, 8 euros to the airport. A rip off!

Cable Cars - Excursions A city to walk and do not forget to take the cable cars and the elevators.
