This is a very lovely place to stay, nice and helpful staff, nice rooms with port wine that you can serve yourself whenever you want to, breakfast served in the nice garden. The tarrasse to the library on the top offers you a pleasant moment with a wonderful view over the river. A really good choice.

Top Local Tips for Lisbon

Research restaurants For a city the size of Lisbon we were very suprised by the restaurants. Not too many, most shut on a Sunday night and nearly had to end up dining at one of the Irish Teme pubs or Benn & Jerry's ice cream shop!

Think before buying the Lisboa Card! If you're going to Lisbon for the weekend (a great destination for quick trips) dont bother buying the all-in Lisboa Card which is for all the museums, public transport etc. Museums are all free on Sundays anyway, and they are then all closed on Mondays in case you were thinking of staying over an extra day! Much better to buy the daily travel card for buses, metro and trams which also includes the wonderful funicular railways, and then (unless you are a real museums groupie) pay pro rata. This card, called the '7 colinas' card is best bought in the machines in the Metro stations and costs Euro 3.80
