Best views in Funchal

We have stayed at this hotel some 18 times over the last 20 years. Whilst it is not the most luxurious or cheapest in Funchal, it is certainly the best. We are walkers of the Lavadas and the location in the old town is exactly right for our needs. We hope to return in September of this year!

I have stayed here several times, because the situation offers wonderful views of Funchal from the terrace (best seen at night).The hotel was once a conservatoire, I am informed, so the architecture is appealing, and the workers cottages at the back form the annex. Accommodation is not luxurious, but the authentic feel of the hotel, and the nearby restaurants and bars make it an interesting base to stay.
