Top Local Tips for Costa De Caparica

beach hotel dont allow hotel reception to mail your postcards for you and do not buy the taxi vouchers to go to the airport or into the city

Surf/boogie boarding This is a great area for surfing and boogie boarding. There are local surf schools offering lessons and a couple of great shops for rentals and purchases. The beach is soft sand and there are no rocks to land on when falling off your board! I am no expert, but I would judge that the surf is suitable for beginners through to intermediates, perhaps even experts. I was pleased to be able to borrow a wet suit as the sea, although it is exceptionally clean, it pretty cold and the wet suit made my time in the water even more fun.

Community dogs We got a kick out of the community dogs who wander around the Costa de Caparica area, run on the beach, sleep in doorways, etc. They minded their own business, and didn't bother anyone, but for people who are afraid of dogs, this might be an issue. You also have to watch where you step! I heard this was the same in some neighborhoods in Lisbon, too.
