My exsperience with this hotel is far from good.
I was burgled the first night I was there. Someone entered my room, while I was sleeping. They came through the terrace door (3rd floor), stole my video camera and my money. The management handled the incident very poorly. Heard from other guests that there had been several similar incidents in the hotel. All the way up to 5th floor. The management had no warning out and I was not the only one that felt that the management tried to minimize it or dust it under the carpet.
In addition the guests had to by the lock to the safetybox for E 12,- per week. This is not a service,or lack of it, one should exspect from a 4 star hotel.

An incredible hotel, with fantastic quality

The Pestana Delfim was an incredible hotel, with fantastic quality. However drinking in the hotel was an expensive experience, €2.30 for a small bottle of beer. My advice is to go into Alvor town, which is only a 10 min walk. It has a great selection of bars which are open late. The hotel offers free Portuguese lessons at 12noon which is a good way to learn the basics of the native language. The hotel also offers internet access in the main reception at a cost of €3 for 15 mins. All in all, a great holiday and a great hotel, check out the indoor heated pool and the outside saltwater pool, very impressive!

Top Local Tips for Portimao

Dining If you don't like queuing for your dinner, make sure you get to the restaurants before 8pm, then you can get a table wherever you choose, without having to join a queue in the street.

Go B and B at this hotel Book if possible just B and B There are many lovely restaurants in Alvor which costs about 4 euros to reach by taxi.

Eating Out Look around the little side streets for places to eat and drink - the most fabulous bar was the oldest bar in Alvor up the hill from the harbour-fronted restaurants - very quirky and beers not to pricey.
