Top Local Tips for Obidos

Taxis/Shuttle Bus Taxis were more expensive coming home at night the tariff seemed to change. About 30 Euros return to Peniche and 40 Euros return to Obidos. The restaurants are open in both places at night but there are no shops open. So if you want to shop you would need to go during the day. There is a free shuttle bus from your villa in the Praia Del Rey Resort. You phone the hotel and ask for it and give your address. They usually come with in 10-15 mins. Just ask the curt reception staff for it on return!! The guys that drive the shuttle bus are really nice.

Visit at night Visit Obidos once during the day but then visit again at night. During the day you can climb the castle walls and see the views but at night when the walls and narrow streets are lighted and most of the daytrippers have left it is a charming and enchanting village. Many of the shops stay open late and the restaurants are busy but no one minds if you just sit over a beer and watch people stroll by.

Obidos pretty but full of tourists This town is pretty as a picture but it is 100% tourists and tourist shops, nothing else. Interesting to see but I would skip it in favor of Evora or another walled city where there is actually something to do other than be a tourist.
