Quiet Location
4 minutes walk to the great Sandy beach
Nice rooms with free Air Conditioning,television and fridge.
Room cleaning standards high.
Clean Towels every day.
Staff polite, helpful and efficient.
Buffet breakfast top notch-a choice of hot or cold dishes or both.
Nice Swimming pool with free sunbeds
Good poolside snack bar.
Unusual Moorish decor in public area.

Negatives
Swimming pool not suitable for non swimmers very small shallow end.
Not enough umbrellas around the pool.
Early call breakfast in room awful.

Stayed here for the European Harley Davidson Motorcycle rally, Lovely hotel with a difference, was like walking into a cave effect. Staff friendly, and service and food excellent. Would use again.

Top Local Tips for Monte Gordo

Sun lounges - on the beach Hiring a sun lounger and parasol can be costly over a 2 week period , multiplied by the number in your party. It's better to lie on a towel and if necessary buy a fold up chair. They are as inexpensive as 10 euros and at that price, you can leave them behind - still cheaper than a sun lounger! Take some cheap wire or plastic coat hangers with you. They're only a pound per dozen and again, if you leave them eventually there will be no need to take them.

Airport transfer - seamless manoevre Paying for a private transfer may eat into the holiday funds a little, but it doesn't break the bank and it's far quicker than the communal coach.

Walking and cycling. The area around Monte Gordo and the town itself is very flat and easy walking, this is probably why it attracts a high number of older travellers. Other coastal parts of 'the Algarve' are quite rocky, hilly and have steep cliffs, if you are incapacitated in any way it can be a problem.
