Stayed there late Sept 2011. Room was excellent, also bar, restaurant, reception area -- and they carried our bags up and down. The location is right in the centre of the old town overlooking the marina. Great value for money, highly to be recommended.

Nov 05. Hotel clean, but not up to 4 star rating. Staff unhelpful& disinterested, breakfast often cold. Position very central nice view over the marina, spoilt somewhat by the drug users & drinkers that hung about ALL DAY & ALL NIGHT
Outside the entrance to the hotel. Very intimidating at times. Would not rush back. The boat trip out to the lagoon/nature reserve is however excellent.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Hotel Eva

eva hotel good location

from welshrode
stayed for one night b4 moving onto our usual hotel in Alvor.Pleasent stay, comfortable rooms for us and the kids,a bit small but adequate.Great location on the marina with room overlooking .Great views of aeroplanes coming in-plane spotters paradise -and the storks were great fun to watch coming and going.

Superb finish to a great holiday.

from oscars
We stayed in the Eva for 2 nights june 11-13 before flying home and were very impressed at this hotel. Perhaps receiving a suite up-grade overlooking the marina because of a booking error by the hotel is making this review biassed.
Agree with previous reviews on staff, reception and bar very good, dining room a disaster. Room and views superb, location for accessing airport great but Faro is only worth a couple of days. The nature boat trip at €20 for 2 and half hour I thought was good value.

Tiny Stars

from Lusophile
We stayed six nights at the Eva as part of a multi-National interest group. The Eva has a central location - it IS the bus station. Advertised as 4 stars, it really deserves 2.
Can't complain about the price and being with friends made it tolerable, but we expected better.
The rooftop restaurant and rooms x01 to x14 have superb view; x30 to x38 are totally unacceptable.

Pleasant stay in a pleasant town

from Windsock
We found the Hotel Eva perfectly fine for a three night break out of season. Hotel staff were perfecly friendly, the breakfast food and views were superb, maid service good, bar very pleasant. In fact the only bad bit was the pool does not open till June (although we weren't to surprised!)
Half of the hotel overlooks the marina, while the other half just looks straight across the road to not very exciting views. Judging from the fireplan better rooms are situated in the middle of the hotel with larger balconies & rooms and looking at town & marina. We were situated in the two large ('superior') rooms overlooking the marina on the second floor, but these rooms did not seem to exist on other floors. We had asked for adjoining rooms which these two provided, although they were a long walk down the corridor.
Faro was great for a day or two, but the night life does not start going till late. Restaurants were varied, but all the ones we used gave us good value food, some of it very fine in the more expensive ones.
A train trip along the coast gives a wide choice of other towns to visit, although the train is not very fast, but at least it is cheap.
The boat trip out to the lagoon birdwatching etc was very good but maybe a tad pricey for some (20 euro for 2 1/2 hours). Worst bit was no bar on the boat which most people would not miss (We had our own supplies!)
Would reccomend Faro for feb half term break as weather was not bad (it only rained twice, for about 5 mins) and warm and mainly sunny. Cheap cab ride from airport makes it handy.

Lovely views, comfy hotel

We stayed at the Hotel Eva on a weekend break. The hotel is clean and the staff are very friendly. The rooms are nice with a harbour view(email them first to request this). The beds are so comfy and the rooms nice and warm as the weather in feb is a bit chilly. Room service is great and they do lovely toasties if you want a snack (24 hours) and reasonably priced too ! Clean towels and mini soaps etc in the bathroom
Faro we found was a tad boring, but then again it is a working town, but okay for a weekend break but nothing more !
We spent the evenings in the hotel bar, big screen tv, nice beer and they always bring you a bowl of nuts/crisps, very friendly service.
Breakfast had a good choice, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs etc, i didnt care for these as they looked greasy. The cold buffett breakfast was good, croissants, buns, cake, jams, cheese, hams etc. There will be something you like at breakfast, oh and the orange juice is freshly squeezed, lovely!
So you will enjoy the Hotel Eva, a good friendly hotel for a couple of nights.
Its 8euros to the hotel Eva from the airport in a taxi, or 1e 50c on the bus, we got the bus there only took 15 mins, and the taxi back which was less than 10 mins.

Ideal hotel

Great service food and location and if you get a room with views
over the marina even better best only for a short stay

great location

from jill18956
picked hotel from easyjets selection and could not beat price(£142 for 3 nights inc breakfast). room overlooking marina is the one to go for, great views sunrise, sunset. Although not new it is clean and well-furnished with friendly staff and good facilities. Nice breakfast choice with tremendous views from top floor restaurant. Didn,t eat at night so cannot comment. Appeared to allow smoking to horror of staying-over American flight crew(hee hee). Great boat trip from just outside marina(walk past fire station),knowlegable friendly guide and good value at 20 eurospp. With cheap transfer from airport, lovely old town and the hotel bang in the middle of where you want to be ,a great long weekend jolly.

Great surprise ! The view !

from annikins
We were pleasantly surprised at how lovely this hotel was. We were traveling to Lisbon by train and this seemed like the only decent option - but it turned out to be great ! When we arrived and they told us that it was above the bus station - my heart sank ! But if one walks around the corner of the station to the hotel entrance - wow ! It was like being transported into another place ! We were facing the yacht basin and the sea was just beyond! I gasped with delight when I opened the sliding glass door of our room.

The room was clean and very comfortable. We took a walk to the historical section of town and then walked back amongst the boats. Perfect.

Average Hotel

We stayed at the Eva on a 3 night city break to Faro. The room was clean and we requested a marina view balcony which was nice. Buffet breakfast was very good and provided a hot and cold selection. The waiters were totally indifferent and never wished anyone good morning or good bye. They must have gone to the same customer service training as some of the reception staff who were downright surly!
The room service choice was poor and quite frankly the food that was on offer was pretty grim when it arrived. The mini bar was empty and you had to request what you wanted in it. Too much trouble in my opinion.
Bear in mind that the airport is nearby and the train station and both at times were noisy. The city itself was covered in appalling grafitti EVERYWHERE so much so that I really had to think twice about taking photos. The restaurants nearby were mediocre offering toasties, burgers, chicken and chips etc. Do try the Naval restaurant at the marina for a good fish meal. Generally I thought Faro was shabby, scruffy and dirty. Take a train along the coastand remember 3 days is plenty. Weather was wonderful though.

Exellent Location

from alp02
Stayed here in 2003 and again last week. Good, clean Hotel which is central and ideal place to explore the Algarve. The bus station is attached to the Hotel and the train Station is only 200 yards away, with services to the East (Tavira) and West (Lagos) and also to Lisbon. Ask for a room overlooking the Marina. Breakfast is on the 5th (top) floor with panoramic views of the City and Coast and to watch the planes approach and land at the airport a couple of miles away.

Top Local Tips for Faro

Pre-booked cars Don't waste money on pre-booking a car to and from the airport. We did and it failed to turn up on our departure day and we almost missed our flight. This was annoying as we had to pay 50 euros to the driver on collection and then had to spend out a further 12 euros on a taxi. Stick to the local taxi service.

Tip Book room with sea view NOT superior

Trains and Bus. 5 minutes down the road from the hotel. It is cheap and can take you almost all the way from one end of the Algarve from the other.
