Stayed here for three nights with my daughter. The bar opens at 4pm so there is nowhere to get a drink until this time, no alchol is sold. Pool area untidy and run down. Out in the middle of nowhere. Breakfast ok rolls, cheese ham, coffee, juice. Staff ok and polite. Rooms ok beds good room was very clean.

Good rooms, revolting food!

The rooms in Hotel Lido were clean, homey and tidy. The beds were made every morning when we left the room, the towels always fresh and the empty bottles even taken care of. The staff was polite, despite the rather poor English skills of most, and helpful. No complaints in that account, by all means.

But the food was, quite litterally, revolting. One should think that, upon dining in a four-star restaurant, one would not be served overboiled fish and potatoes with absolutely no taste, brown cauliflower, bananas with brown spots and soup with yesterday's left-overs in it.

In Hotel Lido, this is exactly what you get. We were staying for six days, and on the fourth day, the meals reached a new low - one I had not in my wildest dreams imagined. As if the fish dinner had not been bad enough. The first half of our (rather large) party was served some fifteen minutes before the second half - and when the latter got served, the food (pasta with meatballs, no sauce) was cold, had ketchup stains on it, and held - to my great disgust - hairs. Not mine, I might add; they were black whereas I was currently a redhead.

Why was the food in such a sorry state? Because, believe it or not, the staff had cleared away the plates of the first half, and sent them back out! Most of us could barely force down a few mouthfulls before we left, and so the staff had "recycled" the food abandoned by the first customer by giving it directly to another.

I have never been so disgusted in my life. I left the room immediately, barely stopping to tell the waitress in no uncertain terms that I was not eating another mouthful.

In short, the overnight accommodations are lovely, and the breakfast buffet is, by South European standards, more than satisfactory. The pool, too, is worth a visit. But if you wish to return home with your apetite still intact, avoid the "restaurant" after lunch. Anything else is tantamount to self-afflicted food poisoning.

Watch out for Dog Doo-Doo The locals love to walk their dogs, however, it's not required for them to pick up after them. There is an ongoing campaign there to change this. You'll see the gift box posters and signs. So watch where you step. Although there are cool sites to look up at, look down every other step as there are piles of dog doo-doo everywhere.
