For the 3rd year running, we stayed @ the Baltum, whilst the breakfast is basic and the same every day. The hotel is in a prime location.... not 5 mins from the beach and right in the centre. Mainly for couples, no pool or games. Rooms slightly dated, but serviced every day, clean & the air con worked. DO NOT request a room without a balcony/veranda as they are claustrophobic and are on a level where people can see into your room. Overall still an ideal place to stay @ very reasonable rates.

Top Local Tips for Albufeira

The Little Train Round the back of the Hotel, just up a side street there is a bus stop on one side, but if you go to the right there is a train stop. It is a little tourist train that takes you up to the Strip, it costs either 2 euros one way, or if you pay 3 euros you can travel around all day. It starts at 8, and finishes at 1 a.m., but in the height of the season it goes on until 4 a.m., so if you want a wild night in the strip, you can get the train back. All in all very good value.

Money. Take plenty of cash with you as this place is very, very expensive. Try to not eat at any of the restaurants in the main square, the food is poor and all tastes the same. Over prioced crap.

A really great place to eat Go to the restuarant opposite Jo-Jos (I've totally forgotten it's name but it's on the slightly raised terrace, with the tables with huge white umreallas on and chairs with padded seats). It was the best meal we had all week and the cheapest too and the two brothers who run it are lovely.
