have been to cpo 3 times my husband 5 times he has just returned after a golfing holiday decided he wont be going back as the beds are so uncomftable (hard) the studio rooms have a single bed you have to pull out the other bed from underneath as the rooms are small when you have done this you can't swing a cat for 2 men sharing the room this is not practical as the weather was hot you only have a fan in the room no air conditionion the area is a good location but this is the only good thing.

Did not like the place

Club Praia da Oura Albufeira Portugal.
My wife and I have just returned from CPO and were really disappointed. CPO is spotlessly clean, and the grounds are well looked after and nice to look at, but it would appear that attention to detail is lacking, particularly if you are disabled in any way.
My wife and I were in an apartment on the first floor overlooking the pool, and being on crutches found that on that level there are no ramps, lighting is poor the elevator situation is of little help as it is too far from the accommodation, the walkway is too dimly lit and very slippery in or after rain. We had an occasion to borrow a wheelchair, from the reception in an emergancy, and the firs question asked at reception was when are you brining the chair back. Anyone who is eldely, infirm or disabled would be advised to steer cleer of CPO.

Great location, shame about the hotel

Me and my partner have just returned from holiday at the club praia da oura. I am a regular to the algarve and have always thought that this hotel is in a perfect location, so this time we went we booked for here. Biggest mistake of my life !!

At present the hotel is undergoing major refurbishment (well needed I can asure you, rooms represented 1970's pontins style accomodation !!) and the whole place is a building site. They are just working around where people are staying. not one person we spoke to was happy, all had been moved several times during the stay due to noise. common sence surely would be to close for a few weeks, do the work, then open back up as people want a relaxing break !!

I just took one look and said 'im not staying here' so off we went to complain. we were told we could upgrade to the sister hotel for 174 Euros, so we paid just for some peace. why they didnt just use this hotel while work was been done i will never know.

All in all a very greedy hotel company, with no consideration for guests, just want the money to keep rolling in. staff are unhelpful and rude and prices of drinks and food is extortionate.

great location, shame about the hotel !!

Great hotel

from Burkins
We stayed there at the end of October 2005 (Husband, 1 year old and myself).

I asked the hotel to arrange an aiport transfer for us and was very impressed to see that the taxi company had a child seat for the car.

The staff were always very helpfull and went out of their way to help, the cleaning staff even timed the apartments cleaning between my son's nap.

We didn't really use the hotel facilties very often as we preferred to spend the day on the beach (great for kids) and wanted to try different restaurants. The hotel bar was quite expensive though.

Wasn't too impressed with the strip but the old town was lovely (5 euros by taxi). Not sure if I would have been able to stand it in the height of summer though.

Our room was great, the balcony overlooked the pool and further out the sea.

Would definately recommend this hotel.

Bustling hotel, beautiful area

from HuwBowen
My girlfriend and I stayed at the Praia da Oura hotel for 2 weeks at the beginning of last years summer, and had a wonderful time.

I think we were lucky to get such a gorgeous room, which was high up and overlooked the whole of the bay. Lower rooms would get the hustle and bustle of a very busy hotel, without the superb view we had every morning.
The room itself was perfect for the needs of a young couple, had a spacious bathroom area and small kitchen. The only drawback was maybe the bed which was a pull out, but if your not fussed about putting the bed away every night then it's no hassle.

The area was terrific, but it's maybe not as quiet as we would have liked - "the strip" and even old Albufeira is a hive of activity by night, and there is nothing worse than some sixteen year old trying to get you into his bar while your taking a leisurely stroll after dinner. Also I personally would have enjoyed more Portugese cuisine, the food seemed to be international rather than local - probably for the best though since my girlfriend doesn't like fish!

We didn't use the hotel pool, the noise of children playing was horrendous and not ideal for reading or relaxing. Instead we used the beach which was superb.

I would recommend this hotel, but it's not for those seeking a quiet two weeks holiday. Albufeira is stunning, with plenty going on, and i will visit the Algarve again i'm sure.

A very nice location

Stayed in a studio apartment for a week in September. Lovely view of the ocean from the room, and only a short walk to the beach.
Very clean and well maintained complex. Ate at Jackie's once, but were put off by the prices.
Following earlier post regarding short-cut to the strip, spent a lot of time up there. Only down-side is the constant time-share touts. We were caught and lost 3 hours of our holiday.
Oh, and the cake-shop is to die for.

absolutly brill!

We have just returned from a week in The Algarve at the Clube Praia Du Oura Resort.

This was our first trip to The Algarve and we were very apprehensive about what it would be like but I have to say we were pleasantly surprised, our resort was excellent the apartment was very clean, and large and airy although we did have a 2 bed apartment, everything on the resort was very clean and tidy and the grounds well manicured, staff friendly, porters to take your luggage to and from the rooms, the beach is a five minute walk and is gorgeous.

The entertainment on site was a bit cheesy and very family orientated and we were two single females, so we headed for the strip which is a 10 minute walk max from the apartments and there are plenty of Bars and Restaurants to choose from.

Would have no hesitation in recommending this resort and will be returning in the near future

Big, bright and high standards all round

We stayed here on a B+B basis in September. When we arrived there had been a problem with our booking (the travel company's fault, not the hotel's) but the night receptionist was very helpful, as were the reception staff the following day. We were accommodated in another hotel after which the CPO staff helped us in making the calls we needed to sort things out.

When we finally did get to stay at this hotel (the second week of our holiday) we were both impressed with the very high standards the hotel maintains. The staff are all friendly and well presented in their smart uniforms. The cleaners/maids are always busying about keeping the rooms and grounds very clean. These high standards extend to the poolside staff, gardeners, maintenance and entertainments staff, all who seem to do their jobs very well indeed.

The food in Jackie's restaurant was pretty good (although we only ate breakfast there). We have had more impressive selections, but there was enough choice to keep you satisfied and everything was tasty enough!

There was a huge array of activities on offer, almost all of which were completely free. Watersports, tennis, football, lessons in basic Portuguese, yoga, pilates etc. Although it seems these were repated every week, it was still an impressive selection, especially for free! We didn't sample the night-time entertainment in the main bar as it did seem very 'cheesy', although this is probably because we are a couple in our twenties and the bar entertainment was more suited to families or older people (younger couples can easily get out and about on the Strip or in the Old Town).

Our room was a very impressive size, impeccably clean with excellent facilities including (no-deposit-required) Air Con! The provided pots, pans and utensils were all like new and everything was in its right place. The furnishings were colourful and clean and the beds comfortable.

All in all we really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.

TIP: Don't let the dreaded "Cardiac Hill" put you off as there is an easy shortcut: take the lift near the main pool up to the 9th floor, coming out by the little aviary and kids' play area, which will bring you out on top of the hill near the OuraPraia hotel, with an easy walk to the strip!

Fantastic !!!

Great holiday without the larger louts

from A TripAdvisor Member
Myself and my partner stayed here for one week. When we first arrived we were shown to our apartment which we were very disappointed in. It was really dark as it was north facing and the only view we had was of a big massive tree which kept out all the light. After reading the reviews before we went we decided to see if we could change apartments. They moved us to the A block which was nice as it had its own garden and the balcony was bigger and got the sun all afternoon but we didnt have a view of the sea even though we did specify it. I think they are really hard to get. The beech is fabulous and you cant help feeling safe in this area. It really does have a Club feeling to it but in all the right ways. Air conditioning should be a must as we couldnt get to sleep at night it was way too warm. The fan was useless as it just circulated the hot air. Apartment was small enough but we were only there a week so we werent too bothered. Not sure how they would fit 3 in it though. Great place, food even better, beech breathtaking - yes we'll be back very soon.
