Not what I expected from a 4 star hotel

We stayed here because the price was amazing, but we should have known that a deal that good, was just too good to be true. Check in was simple and the staff friendly, most spoke English, which was a relief. The room was dirty, with visible dust and dirt on the floor. The bed was literally like a board with a thin fabric covering and the pillows were stone. Room service was friendly and fast, but on out last day, we ordered salads and were aghast to find a catepillar sitting in the plate. We notified the front desk immediately, but they refused to refund us the cost of the meal, telling us that they could not control such things. A nasty argument ensued and we left angry, without any restitution. On the bright side, the lobby bar is fabulous, as is the bartender, who is eager to help vistiors experiment with local drinks. In the evening the lobby hosts a live band and all in all its very festive. This hotel was somewhat out of the way, but if you want cheap, and have no intention of ever eating in the hotel, i would recommend it, otherwise, stay closer to the center of the Albufeira.
