Just returned from our 4th visit to the Baia Grande Hotel and am pleased to say that the standards are still as high as ever. Very pleasant staff at reception, in the Piano Bar and even the Room Service. Ok, Albufeira and indeed the hotel was particularly quiet but at the end of the day it was January after all. Nice big room with great view, lovely breakfast and virtually our own private indoor pool, jacuzzi and sauna due to the lack of numbers in the hotel. Would definitely stay again and thanks to everyone at the Baia Grande for another great break.

Just returned from my third stay at the Baia Grande and once again I had a great stay. The general condition of the hotel is good and the rooms large and clean. The breakfast is fine as long as you don't leave until the last minute and the piano bar, although very hot, was fine. Just one small thing is that after staying there for the previous two years, I noticed that certain areas, especially the pool, are in need of repair and / or painting. I think a small revamp which definitely would include the pool floor is required sooner rather than later.

An excellent Hotel with very friendly staff. Location not as close to Albufeira as we would have liked. Great Hotel for couples wanting a quiet location.

As a first time visitor to the Algarve and indeed Portugal, it is with pleasure that I can strongly recommend the Hotel Baia Grande. The hotel is situated about 3km outside of Albufeira in a very small village called Sesmarias. The hotel runs a reasonably frequent free Shuttle Bus service into the town and also to local beaches which are only 5 Mins away. If you miss the free bus then a taxi into Albufeira Old Town is around 5-6 Euro's and the hotel reception will organise these taxi's for you for just 50 cents. The standard of the hotel from design to decor to cleanliness is nothing short of Superb. The pool area is large, the pool clean (but cold !!) and the sunbeds not too difficult to get hold of, also the poolside bar serves a decent range of Drinks and Snacks at pretty reasonable prices for a hotel. Our room was larger than we expected, the beds were comfy, the bathroom spacious and the maid service amazing (they even folded up any clothes left around and put any shoes/trainers away in the cupboard every day).
If I was to be particularly choosy, then the Piano Bar entertainment was not upto much but I suppose it is difficult to please everyone of all age groups. Breakfast was reasonably ok and served with a smile by the waiters and waitresses at all times. The reception staff too deserve a mention as from day one, they could not do enough for us, from directions, to taxi's to local restaurants etc.. By the way, there are a couple of really nice restaurants in the close vicinity of the hotel called Dom Diniz and O'Marinheiro which are both of an excellent standard. Also, within 10 minutes walk is a great British Bar called Scooby's which serves your typical British food all day and night and has Sky Sports on Plasma TV's showing all the English Premiership games as well as Soccer Saturday, it also what is apparently the deapest Swimming Pool in the Algarve on site. All-in all a great holiday location for a relaxing break away and I would most definitely stay in the Hotel Baia Grande again.
