I have had 2 horrible experiences at Starwood hotels in Warsaw Poland. The most recent was the end of July when staying at the Westin Warsaw for 2 nights. I was in Warsaw in order to be present at the US embassy with my fiancé for an interview for US visa. Due to problems with her passport we had to leave Poland on an urgent basis in order to return to her country and get a new passport issued. We were attempting to make a 1.30 PM train from Warsaw but during the stress we realized that I had left my US cell phone in a taxi cab that we had taken from the US embassy back to the Westin hotel.

Our luggage had been left in hotel storage and on return we asked the front desk to make a FREE calling card call to a local Warsaw number so that I could reach my cell phone in the taxi and hopefully have the taxi driver return the phone.

After 15 minutes of explaining the urgent need to make the call, the front desk at the Westin told us that since we had checked out of the hotel, it was impossible to make a local call except to use the business center.

We went to the business center next and waited close to 30 minutes for a hotel agent to came to service us - then explain again that we could not pay or make a FREE local phone call. At this point I said we need to speak with the hotel manager. The service person said that was impossible and it was not able to make a local phone call.

I located the management office for the hotel and again the business center agent told me I could NOT go into the office to speak with hotel management and said I had to go back to the front desk. I ignored her instructions and went into the management office anyway -and fortunately the staff there allowed us to make the call to the toll FREE Polish number for my calling card. The taxi driver heard the call, returned the phone and took us to the train station where we just barely made the ONLY train from Warsaw that day due the the hotels inability to let us make a SINGLE FREE call.

excellent value and service

from heeto
Cant say enough about the quality of this hotel. The service was outstanding. We are SPG members and travel frequently. This is by far one of the best Starwood properties we've stayed in .The service was superb. We were treated like royalty.Everyone was courteous, accomodating to our needs and spoke English.Very caring staff.Cudos to the management for training such great staff.
The room was huge with a wonderful bathroom that included great bath products. It had a great tub with shower AND a walk in shower stall.
The bar made great drinks esp martinis. We ate one night at the restaurant and the service/food was excellent.Try the goose dinner.
Very modern hotel with great views as you ascend a glass elevator.
A brisk 20 minute walk to historic center. No problem for us since we love to walk.Safe city with cheap taxi's.It wont disappoint.

Excellent service. Fantastic overall quality of the hotel.

Heavenly Beds!

Stayed 1 night at start of a Polish trip. Hotel was lovely, reception very helpful & gave us maps, location information & help with booking train tickets.

Lift was great, our 7 year old could have spent hours going up & down.

We booked a family room & got 2 adjoining rooms for the same price. Rooms are excellent & the beds are out of this world!

Breakfast buffet was very good.

Very good value for money & would stay again.

Wonderful Westin Weekend in Warsaw!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We planned an Eastern Europe weekend jaunt with friends of ours, and left them to do the research and work out the best value and interesting location. Would it be Prague, Budapest or some other popular touristy type destination? NO, the reply came back that we were going to WARSAW! I initially thought it was in Russia, and wondered what we were letting ourselves in for. But when the details of the hotel that we planned to stay in came through to me, and I did a bit of research on the web, I became less anxious.

If you look on the web and think that the Westin Warsaw looks impressive, you wait until get there. The concierge, the entrance, the lobby, the reception and the lift even (the big round glass tube feature on the corner of the hotel), all shout out five star style and quality. And all that is before you even receive the benefit of the helpful and attentive staff, or before you've seen your room, tried the food or the bar cocktails!

I could go on here, suffice to say.............. we asked to change rooms, not a problem, I lost my mobile phone, not a problem, they sent someone to look for it, not a problem, they found it and brought it to my new room, not a problem.

Talking about the room, huge soft so comfy beds, they call them 'Heavenly Beds' and with every reason. Good size rooms, plenty of storage space and mirrors and our own little fresh coffee maker rather than little sachets. Fantastic bathroom as well, with a great bath and a separate shower too.

A Table in the restaurant, not a problem, advice on local restaurants, not a problem. The staff were sooooooo helpful, nothing was too much trouble for them. The bar menu was delicious (go for the club sandwich but ask for a side of mayo rather than ketchup, it won't be a problem), the cocktail menu was extensive and included a full range of health smoothies and mixed fruit juices. Every drink was perfectly made. Dinner on our first night was superb, breakfast every morning was something we really looked forward to. Everything you could imagine was available for breakfast, (you should try the blackcurrant juice), eggs cooked to order and a huge range of hot items, juices, breads, pastries, fruit, fish EVERYTHING!

A great location with tram stops nearby, a great view of the Palace of Culture and Science from just outside, and altogether a really striking and brilliant hotel, which played a key part in giving us a great and memorable 4 days in Poland!

Very nice hotel; decent location

from ms_go
We spent two nights at the Westin Warsaw as part of a tour in July 2005. It was the best hotel of the seven on that trip.

This hotel is fairly new - they told us at the desk they'd been open about two years. The rooms and common areas are contemporary and very clean. Our room was not all that large, but it was extremely comfortable and nicely furnished. The beds were, indeed, 'heavenly' and comfortable, with nice linens. The marble bath had a separate tub and shower and nice amenities. The breakfast buffet included with our room was very substantial. Service was very efficient and pleasant.

There are other hotels that are closer to the main sghts of Warsaw, but I did not mind the 15-minute walk to Old Town or the Royal Way at all. We found cabs to be plentiful and inexpensive when we needed them.

Love this Hotel

from Jetstream1958
Stayed at the Westin Warsaw from September 2nd to 4th. Got upgraded to a Corner Room with great views of the Warsaw Skyline on two sides. Very modern and clean Hotel. Room size is average. Excellent beds (as usual in Starwood properties) and all the necessary creature comforts. Excellent bathroom with separate shower cubicle and...this I loved the most: Molton Brown amenities!! Nice Bar with the best wodka lemons I ever had. Check-In staff is friendly (Polish style...;-). Location is ok, a brisk 20-minute walk will get you to the old town and taxis are inexpensive (for now) in Warsaw.
Overall I can highly recommend this hotel for business and leasure!

Great hotel!

from A TripAdvisor Member
The 4-day stay was a very good experience with an excellent service and the hotel itself was impressive. Especially executive levels with free high-speed internet and separate lounge is a great idea. There, you can have a small meeting, access internet, watch big screen TV and have a quiet breakfast only for executive levels. Rooms - nothing to complain about -just great. Heavenly Bed - excellent. General area breakfast - very good but not outstanding in world terms.
Cons - no swimming pool, no free parking. The third-party parking is very close but at $30/night it seems overpriced. Parking on the street is possible.
When including free internet it should work right away or at least access code should be provided at check-in. That has not happened. Fusion restaurant - just as expensive as Warsaw's top restaurants but it does not compare. White robes - would be nice to have two per room and softer. But the cons are really minor. It is an excellent place to stay - I highly recomment it.

Fantastic Westin Warsaw

from fowd
My girlfriend and I have just returned from a 6 night stay at the Westin Warsaw, and were very, very impressed. Reception staff were courteous and spoke both English and Polish (my girlfriend is Polish so did most of the speaking!) and bags were brought to our room straight away.

Our room, a Deluxe (nearly identical to Classic except for extra bath gel, matching dressing gowns) was immaculately presented and spotlessly clean, Bathroom had walk-in shower and separate bath/washover.

Breakfast comes highly recommended (although expensive if not already included in room rate), although we did not try the evening meal at Fusion.

We would not hesitate to return to this hotel. Highly recommended. 5*.

Excellent hotel!

I have just come back from a 4 night stay at the Westin Warsaw and was very impressed with this hotel. It is a nice and modern - so much so that I couldn't believe it has been open for 2 years! The reception area is very stylish and spacious with a fascinating hanging staircase going up to the second floor. The lifts are amazing! They are glass and rise up in front of the glass-front of the hotel so you can see out over the city as you rise! Only those in executive rooms get to go all the way to the top floor (20th) but the view from the 17th is still stunning.

Our room was very nice - quite spacious with modern furnishings and a very comfortable 'Heavenly' bed. The bathroom was also a good size with a bath and separate shower cubicle. The bath could have done with being a bit longer but was still fine for a nice long soak. They have a very useful message system on the TV which informs you about any maintenance in the hotel and if the maid came when the 'Do Not Disturb' was on the door so you know to call to arrange for her to come back etc. It also allows you to access you bill which is a good idea.

Breakfast was included in the room rate and was very impressive. Its a buffet and has a wide selection of food - fruit, pastries, meats, cheeses, salmon and hot food. We ate so much at breakfast that lunch wasn't necessary! We had dinner in the hotel restaurant and I have to say that this was the highlight of the trip! The waiting staff were superb and the food was delicious. Its Asian Fusion which I was dubious about at first but everything I had was wonderful. The price was very reasonable too.

The hotel isn't in the most touristy part of the city but the Old Town is only a 15 minute walk and there are also restaurants and shops near the hotel.

If I were to return to Warsaw I would definitely stay in the Westin again. I have stayed at the Bristol too and although that is a very elegant hotel the Westin beats it hands down for style, service and value for money.
