Pluses
(1) Spacious room which met the standards for a 4 star hotel - there didn't seem to be many 4- or 5-star hotels in Krakow
(2) Reasonably sized gym and small pool in the basement

Minuses
(1) On the edge of the old town and thus away from the heart of the action (which may suite those who prefer somewhere quieter)
(2) Food was expensive even relative to the restaurants in the old town
(3) Hotel would not provide complimentary late (2 or 3 pm) check-out even though there was room availability, and instead wanted to charge per extra hour. I've noticed this with other hotels in Europe, whereas hotels in the Asia-Pacific/Americas tend to be more flexible.

Sheraton krakow-wonderful hotel !

from nerys0
Just to re-iterrate practically all other reviews. This hotel is wonderful.

We were a family of 2 adults adn 2 children - so swimming pool was on the list. This is one of only a few hotels in Krakow who have one !

This is truly a 5 star hotel (with prices to match) but if 5 star is what you want - this is what you get.

They have 2 restaurants - Olive restaurant - formal & upmarket and a bar restaurant - serving lighter fayre (but good quality) Great if you have younger kids. Both offered exceptional quality and not TOO pricey (for 5 star hotel)

If you have the funds - then go for this one - just beneath Wawel castle and facing the Vistula river - wonderful location - 10 mins to Old Town square.

Made our visit to Krakow perfect - enjoy !
Booked flights through Sky Europe.com - only airline to fly direct from Manchester - book early for exceptionally low fares - we didn't unfortunately., but flights start from £9 + taxes !! (we paid £212 each !!!!)

My family of 8 just spent 2 nights at the Sheraton Krakow. We had multiple rooms and they were all great. The restaurants were great, loved the sports bar patio. The bartenders at the lobby bar were friendly and helpful with recommendations. I only wish Sheraton hotels in the States were this nice!!!!! We took a horse drawn carriage from the Town Square back to the hotel for 100 zloty, not bad. But you can walk it in 10-15 minutes for free.
The castle is only a 5 minute walk up to the entrance. There is a pedestrian walkway along the river which was a nice stroll.
Overall, my family would most definately return!!!!!

This hotel was Wonderful!!!!

Krakow is a wonderful place. We stayed at the Sheraton for 10 nights in July and believe you me nothing about this hotel was bad!! Our room was clean and quiet. The breakfast was amazing...breads, cheeses, meats fruits, eggs cooked to order... you name it they had it. Plus, the front desk personnel were polite, friendly and helpful. It is a short walking distance to Rynek Glowny(town square)
One day, my daughter and I wanted to go to Kazimierz, see Oskar Schindlers factory, the remnants of the Jewish ghetto wall and other historical stuff. The concierge was VERY helpful. She called a Jewish bookstore that does tours, called us a taxi, and we had the most wonderful, walking private tour of the whole area! I highly recommend this hotel.

Wonderful hotel and staff

from desnudouno
We stayed for 4 nights at the Sheraton Krakow for our 5th anniversary. We had been traveling for about 24hrs when we arrived at 1030pm. My husband had been in touch with the concierge via email prior to arriving and told her this was a special trip for us. When we got to out room overlooking the castle and Wisla River we had champange and chocolate covered strawberries waiting for us- compliments of the manager! The room was very nice with warm colors and a marble bathroom. The desk staff and concierge couldn't have been better. They helped us with tours and dinner reservations every night. It is definitely pricey but if you have the money or it is a special occasion, it is well worth it. Would definitely stay there again.

In the center of Krakow

Just beneath the Castle and half a km from the old town and the famous square.
It seems brand new, beautiful rooms and excellent Sweet Sleeper bed.
Average breakfast.

I read all the glowing reviews and expected more.

We arrived around 1 - were told that check in time was 3pm and that our room was not ready. We spent 2 hours out in the rain waiting - and when we arrived, bedraggled, back at the hotel, it still wasn't ready. They wanted us to wait some more. After a tantrum, they said we could have a room, but it didn't have the outlook we had booked. And neither was it non-smoking, as we had arranged (months in advance). We checked out this room - unsatisfactory. They then said we should wait some more, and they would try to find another room. We did, and they did, but it was after 4pm by the time we got into a room, and we ended up moving our own luggage. We were not even offered a drink while we waited.

There are several things in the room that don't work - the line (for wet clothes) over the bath tub is non-functional, the sink in the bathroom won't hold water.

Breakfast - ordinary

English language newspapers - more than 24 hours old. (I read them before I even got here - they are still down on the stand in the breakfast area.)

Certainly I expected more

s #1 hotel on Trip Advisor!

from OJonVacation
We couldn't wait to write this review so we are writing it throuh the amazing highspeed connection from the wonderfully appointed room facing the Wista river in Krakow. We are frequent business and vacation travellers and have stayed at countless Sheratons and other Starwood properties. This is by far the BEST Sheraton we have experienced - a true 5-star property. When we walked in exhausted yesterday at 6 a.m. from an overnight train, we were treated so graciously by the reception staff and were able to check in early with no problems. The hotel is only 1 year old and is immaculate, with pleasant decor. The bathrooms have great amenities including a great showerhead and soft towels. The room comes with a great hairdryer and iron & board - a rarity in any European hotel! The signature sleeper beds are super comfortable. Although the windows cannot be opened, the air is clean with no smoky smell lingering in the rooms or lobby. The phone system is a high-tech one including access to city guides, email, wakeup call and internet. The gym facilities are brand new, complete and very clean. My boyfriend's highlight has been the massage waterfall in the pool! Everyone working here is incredibly pleasant, accommodating and very helpful. We are minutes from the Wawel Castle which you can see from many of the windows. The city center with all the attractions is only a 10 min. walk away. We missed our wonderful buffet breakfast this morning. However the staff went out of their way to make sure we got a lovely breakfast in our rooms...If you want to visit beautiful Krakow, this is where you should stay and wind down after a long-day's journey...If only the other Sheratons in the world were like this!

No wedding noise

from 2006Oz
With ref to the review about noise, below, we stayed 4 nights in June. On the Friday the hotel informed us, & others, that there would be a wedding in the ballroom (immediately below our room) on the Saturday evening. On inquiring, they said that it would probably go on all night, that they accepted an obligation to minimise our inconvenience, & that they would move us to a room nearby but looking outside rather than over the atrium. We never heard a thing. The staff were all friendly & helpful & the breakfast choice terrific. If you want a bland, American-style hotel it's perfect, but for a taste of the real Krakow stay somewhere else.

A Modern Surprise in a Historical Setting

from A TripAdvisor Member
When we were planning our trip to Poland, the Sheraton Krakow was not our first choice, but other options were already booked. We chose the Sheraton even though the photos and the description on the Web site weren’t very interesting. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the hotel is tasteful, modern and comfortable. The warm wood front desk and soaring lobby/restaurant are attractive and inviting and the check-in staff is gracious. The rooms feature the Sweet Sleeper bed, small but well appointed bathrooms and high-tech phones with tourist and weather information. We really enjoyed the diverse breakfast buffet in the lobby restaurant, too. The only downside we experienced was crowding in the pool area: the deck around the pool had a limited number of lounge chairs and they were always in use.

The hotel’s décor incorporates the history of Krakow with replicas of the faces from the top of the Cloth Hall in the atrium and photos of city buildings in the rooms. Despite the modernity of the hotel, you never forget the rich history of the city you’re in. The Sheraton’s close proximity to the Wawel Castle makes being a tourist as simple as walking out the front door and once we oriented ourselves to Krakow, we realized the hotel is an easy ten minute walk from the main market square. Krakow is a beautiful city and the attention to detail, fine service, comfort and convenience of the Sheraton make visiting an even more memorable experience.

Wielickza Salt Mine You must visit here. It's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and absolutely fantastic. Get a minibus from opposite the new Galleria shopping centre. It takes about 20 minutes. The Mine is just breathtaking

Hotel Taxi Pre book taxi with hotel

Trams and Buses The public tram and bus service is excellent and one can buy a ticket for one, three or seven days for all inclusive travel on buses and trams at a very reasonable price. However taxis are also very reasonable.
