The hotel was clean and if old-fashioned, rather a gloomy atmosphere with long dark corridors and a cellar breakfast room. The five nights that we stayed there coincided with major building works on the floor above us. The drilling and banging started at 7 a.m and continued till 7p.m.The lift was often out of use as breeze blocks were transported to the 4th floor.The remnants of old floorboards and other debris were stored around the front (and apparently only)exit to the building. A notice at reception invited any suggestions for improvements to the hotel's service but the owner showed a total indifference to our complaints. On checking with the pleasant staff on reception they confirmed that the reason their boss appeared not to care was that he didn't! Hotel apart Krakow is wonderful & people friendly & welcoming.

Top Local Tips for Krakow

Good train connection from/to Balice airport You can take the complimentary bus from outside the arrivals terminal to the little train halt or alternatively walk the 200m to the halt. Tickets can be purchased on the train from the ticket inspector (as there is no ticket office or other facilities at the halt) but don't forget on your return journey from Krakow to buy your ticket at the railway station as there is an additional charge on the train (probably due to the fact that there are opportunities to purchase your ticket before boarding the train from Krakow station. The ticket price is only 6 zloty so fantastic value. There is a major new shopping centre attached to the railway station (and bus station) with lots of fantastic shops. Also it is only 10 mins max walk from Old Town square.

tours there are plenty of tours available but have a look around some were bit more expensive than othersSalt mine was interesting but a lot of steps down a lift back up make sure you have shoes you can walk in. We were there in June plenty going on in the squares where you can sit and drink a lot of pubs are down in cellars very interesting and they do like there vodka Look out for one where they sell beer in 5ltres or 3ltres like over sized test tubes adds some fun. Not to expensive at all. If you looking for nightlife just on outside of centre nightclubs go on till 4 and 5am
