A good choice in Cracow

This very nice litte tourist class hotel is located two foot minutes away from the railway station and just five foot minutes away from the old town, so the location could not be better, and it it relatively quiet, too. On arrival you walk into something from a 100 years back, very romantic, but - mind you! - very up-to-date. The place is undergoing an extensive upgrading, so some rooms are better than others, which again is reflected in the rates (Standard and Superior). All bathrooms, however, are upgraded. There is no elevator, but rooms are on 1st and 2nd floors (US: 2nd and 3rd). The included breakfast is served in a Belle Epoque setting with all you can think of, and more - plus a most pleasant staff. En suite is a very nice bar, which also offer a la carte meals - all very reasonable, and good. There is also an outdoor "Bier-garten" for the warmer months. Highly recommended.

Day Trips away from Krakow Within easy reach are the Tatra Mountains and Zakopane. two hours on a coach. the market has some great bargains and the scenery is terrific. the Salt mine of Wieliczka is only a short bus ride from krakow, about 12 Kilometres. You will not be disapointed with the guided tour.

Great Tourist Location Make use of the public transport it is cheap, clean and easy to use. We found the local Tourist Information Offices very helpful (there are several of these at train station and around main square) the locals are also a great source of information and people were quick to point out the cheapest and nearest transport for trips to the saltmines and Auchwitz-Birkenau. The local mini buses run from opposite the post office(near to hotel) to the Saltmines all day and drop you much closer than the public bus, however the train to Saltmines is only 3/4zl and the station is very close to the mine itself.Make sure you take advantage of the cheap amber jewellry in Krakow and spend some time just mooching around the city there is a lot to see and do. Lots of beautiful churches and the castle is only a 5 minute walk from the main square. Enjoy!
