Top Local Tips for Krakow

Use it Use the public transport - it's cheap and very reliable. Train to Auschwitz, although not very frequent costs 9zl one way and the bus is the same. Trma are 2.5zl for one journey and do, unlike our buses, actually turn up at the time shown on the timetable. Also, use the train from the airport - 10zl one way.

money exchange Use the Kantors not the banks ,Kantors give you a far better rate and are normally commision free.For a lovely treat take a horse and carriage ride around the town ,it will cost 100 zlotty per carriage and lasts aboyt 45 minutes. If you want to visit Wawal castle go on a Monday its free.

The usual Four Seasons Krakow has a great musical tradition and we had hoped to hear evidence of it. In the evnt, we heard some very skilled buskers on accordions, some less skilled buskers on fiddles. There were concerts advertised around town, but they are the same touristy lollipops that one hears in Prague, Budapest and other "musical" cities, usually played by students. The real music season is in the winter. Don't expect much in the summer. We heard some Klezmer performers in Kasimiertz, but they were neither authentic nor able to play.
