Look up! If you've come to Tromso with hopes of gaining all sorts of cramps in your neck & back because you've been twisting awkwardly for hours admiring the Aurora Borealis, there is a very special gentlemen worth contacting. I booked three nights with him, and though it cost me a few Kroner, it was absolutely worth starving over for the following weeks to come. I wont describe his tour here, as he says it best on his website, but he is one of those genuinely unbelievable people who may have just restored my faith in humanity. We'd drive for hours along the coast, into the countryside nearly reaching Kilpisjarvi in Finland just to find clear skies so we could witness a show. We were successful on all three nights, the first two absolutely phenominal. Striking an interest in photography myself, it only seemed natural to meet him, but he'd help all he could to get you to take a few great shots yourself of the Northern Lights. Google his name, Kjetil Skogli, for his website and go from there.

Seeing the Northern Lights We stayed six nights and saw the Northern Lights on three nights. Head up the hill, turn right after the graveyard then left and the meterological institute. the lake on your right has a platform which will get you out of most of the light pollution - as it is on top of the hill it is a good place to be. Remember to bring a tripod or set your camera to a high ISO setting. Oh, and wrap up warm! The minimum price for a Northern Lights trip is £50 but you can have just as good a chance by climbing the hill and heading towards the lake. for free.

Emmas dream kitchen You have to visit Emmas restaurant, a bit expensive but fantastic food with a local touch. Great service.
