Friends who lived in the region recommended Erzscheidergaarden in Roros as we wanted a base of operations for touring and genealogy study that wouldn't break our piggy bank, yet meet our needs and expectations for service and cleanliness. TRAVELERS, THIS IS THE PLACE! LOCATION: Inside the 'old' city, near museums and the medeval church and shopping rate it 10 out of 10 PRICE: Unbeatable, especially in Roros. Included a 'homemade' breakfast that was varied and all simply superb. 10 again. SERVICE: Family run, you come as a guest, you leave as a friend. 10+ CLEANLINESS: Absolutely top notch. Great BR facilities, they were installing new plumbing in the last of their rooms, my wife says it was "faultless". Our 'suite' had a kitchenette that came with cooking basics and utencils. Did I mention cable TV??? 10+ OVERALL: we plan another tour next year, leading a small family group. As our ancestors lived in this region it is a foregone conclusion that we will us Erzscheidergaarden as our base of operations. Staying at a corporate-owned motel at almost double the price would be is just silly.
