Top Local Tips for Oslo
Visit Holmenkollen and Frognerseteren Take line 1 metro to Holmenkollen or Frognerseteren. You'll see some nice scenery on the way up the hill from the metro and when up there take a small ( 2km or so) hike from Holmenkollen ski stadium to Frognersetern historic restaurant. From Holmenkollen it's up the hill if ou like it sporty :)
Eating out cheap in Oslo Before you go, I would recommend doing a bit of research on the web about cheaper places to eat and drink as it is very expensive there - just google something like 'cheap restaurants in Oslo' and you should find some recommendations.
Oslo Pass The Oslo Pass was worth every NOK. All we had to do was show it to be able to board all busses, trams, the subway, ferry and local trains and it got us into every museum. We did much more and saw much more of the city becasue we never had to worry about how much change we would need or how to get a ticket. If a museum looked interesting, we went in to look around and found some surprising gems we would have overlooked without the Pass. The hotel front desk sells the Pass and you can choose how long you want it to be valid. We chose the 48 hour pass and saw all that we had wanted to see in that time.

It was very quiet and clean and we had a lovely view of the fjords. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast buffet which is served in a nice restaurant next door was of a very high standard not lacking in anything even the diet and organic oriented guests.
