I travel to Oslo every other week for work and spend 4 days at a time there. For my last 3 visits I have stayed at this hotel and plan to carry on doing so, if I can get the reservations. Opinion of the hotel is that it is clean, the rooms are decent, the staff well-trained and the breakfast good for Oslo. It is one of the better mid-class hotels in Oslo and the location is excellent (it is set back slightly from the centre of town and therefore very quite). One negative point about the hotel though is the cost of using the telephone. Checked out this week and amazed that I was charged £80 for 20 minutes on the phone. So don't use the phone! When you book in, ask for a kettle and drinks, they are free.

This was an excellent hotel and I would fully recommend it to anyone. It was close to everything you could want in Oslo and the bus from the airport actually stops right outside. The staff were helpful and kind and the food was marvellous....especially the breakfast! The hotel itself was clean and bright......a pleasure to stay in and if I went back to Oslo again......I'd stay at the Bondeheimen.

The perfect location

Me and my group were really pleased with our stay in Hotel Bondeheimen. The location of the hotel was great, just a short walk to Karl Johan and we could hop on the tram on the next corner. The price was really great and a delicious breakfast buffet included!! I will definately stay there again next time and recommend it to anybody who is travelling to Oslo!!

A hotel we keep coming back to

I've stayed at Bondeheimen two times before my 2003 visit and I always enjoy returning there. It adds to the fun of Oslo in many ways. First, the location is close to everything in the down-town area yet it isn't on a busy street. It's the perfect launching point for being a tourist. Second, the food is very ekte norsk and I find it a morning ritual, not to be hurried, that starts a successful day. Third, the rooms are charming, all are somewhat different, and clean when I get back from my day of sightseeing or visiting. Fourth, although I'm not into clothing and household items, my wife is and she can spend an hour looking at everything in the Husflid butik which is attached to the lobby in the same building. Bondeheimen has become a tradition every two or three years when we go back to Norway to be a tourist and visit family and friends.

Not a pleasant stay

My room was overlooking a night club and I did not get any sleep the first night. When I complained the next morning to reception I was told that this was a common occcurance as the new anti smoking regulations dictate that smokers need to smoke outside the club. I was then moved to a second room - which I thought was a broom cupboard it was so small and dark. Not a pleasant stay at all!
