Not quite backpacking (ski-touring) and not the UK (we're from SCOTLAND! damn internet choices..) Four of us from the Edinburgh Ski Touring Club ended our tour at Billingen, expecting a village (not empty summer huts...)and a hotel at nearby Grotli (it only opens in summer...) The Hotel at Pollfoss rescued us from this near-disaster! Run by a friendly Dutch couple, we had good food and lodgings in this relaxed, idiosyncratic and characterful hotel - an excellent last day of our holiday.
