tips on places to go in rotterdam Rotterdam is a big small city, lots to do and see anf a great base for exploring the rest of the Netherlands. May have some language problems if you don't speak dutch and the place is being 'done up' so everything's dug up and in a bit of a mess at the moment but don't let that stop you. Check out the cube house, the erasmus beach, you could give euromast a miss but definitely go to the park near it and DO NOT leave without eating some surinamese food, that's part of what makes rotterdam great the cultural diversity.

Using the tram Using the tram system might seem daunting for non-Dutch speakers. Don't worry! There is little kiosk alongside the tram stops at Centraal Station. Go in there and tell the clerk where you want to go. They will sell you a single ticket (E1.60 for most destinations within the city). To find the Maritme Hotel or the Spido port sightseeing cruises, ask for Willemsplein. When returning from there, you can buy a ticket on the tram. If you are staying for several days, you can buy strips of tickets at a discount which need to be stamped in the machine in the tram.
