Although we booked several weeks in advance for a 3 night stay, we were disappointed to find we had been allocated a small room on the top floor.This didn't stop the smell of cigarette smoke infiltrating our room. We were also disappointed to find that one window was broken and had been patched with mastic and that all windows needed a good clean, as did the bathroom. The bed was very low off the floor and uncomfortable. The breakfast was buffet, as expected, but no staff at all were visible and overall there was no feeling of being welcome guests. Things were so bad we decided to check out after one night without bothering to complain. The receptionist said she would charge for the whole 3 nights as we were cancelling without notice. Finally the manager said we would have to pay one night's stay as cancellation fee in addition to the cost of the night we stayed. Since he had our credit card details we had little choice. We are taking this up with the owners. This booking was NOT made through Travel Library.
