Very clean and tidy

We found the hotel very clean and tidy and beautifully decorated. The staff were very polite and helpful. We would not hesitate to stay at the Radisson should we visit Amsterdam in the future. We found that the breakfast wasn't really up to the standard we would have expected but on the whole very happy with our stay.

Very polite and helpful staff

Stayed 4 nights. Asked for quiet room and that is what I got with a view over the rooftops of Amsterdam. The staff were really friendly and very helpful. As far as Amsterdam hotels go this one was excellent. Air conditioning always a plus in August - no mosquitoes! Would recommend it but rooms are better in main part of hotel compared with the extension across the road.

Definitely recommend the Radisson.

I stayed in this hotel for four nights at the beginning of August. Although we had a problem, when my friends booking couldn't be found, the staff were helpful and friendly. The hotel was clean and very comfortable in a quiet area within walking distance of all attractions. The rooms at the back seemed to have more original features and were a bit bigger. I would definitely stay in here again.

I was completely disappointed at the hotel. It was tacky, old, dingy, second class. Needs a little decent decorating. Paint, brighter colors, new bedspreads etc... and nicer towels. The staff was nice and helpful although. Location is quiet and good. I think they have a new building across street that has higher end rooms.

what a hotel, clean and enjoyable, within walking distance to all attractions, never had to use city buses or trains, took 2 tours and could walk to bus pickup! i was very surprised and enjoyed it would stay there again and again.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2003. After a lengthy flight delay, the receptionist was extremely pleasant, I could not fault her, so friendly. Even upgraded us for free to a 'business class' room for our troubles. Strange walk to room through weird glass corridors. Room was ok but very small for an upgraded room. Bathroom was quite large in proportion to the room with, yes, strange toiletries! Decor looked tired and old fashioned, and room distinctly smelt of smoke, even thought it was a non smoking room. Had hot chocolate as well as tea and coffee in the room, which I though was a nice touch. Hotel is a couple of minutes walk to Red Light District and I didn't like the area immediately surrounding the hotel..it was very dark and very quiet. Was amazed on first impression to find international 5 star hotel in such a quiet place!

I just don't know what to say. The hotel was not bad but then it was not good. It was just OK. It didn't leave any lasting impression on me and I really thought it would after reading the reviews. Stayed at the NH Doelen and that was magical. Was my first time in a Radisson property. Will be trying a Radisson in Bergen next week. I hope I like it better than this one.

First Class Service

Just stayed two nights at this hotel. Staff very polite, helpful and yet discreet. Upgraded from a Standard Room without breakfast to an Executive Suite including breakfast for 50 euros per night. Excellent deal. Suites are very spacious and beautifully finished. Good value for two people. Would recommend without hesitation.

My boyfriend & I stayed here for 5 days. At first they were going to put us in a smoking room because Expedia did not forward our preference on to the hotel. I have terrible allergies and the smoke smell is hard to deal with. We ended up upgrading our room to the business suite which was about an extra $30 a day - it was worth it. We had a stunning view of the canal. The windows were over 20ft high. I agree the toiletries are a little odd and scents were even stranger, but overall it was a very nice room and the boyfriend loved the breakfast at the hotel everyday. It's very central yet quiet and relaxing

Superb location, lovely room, helpful and friendly staff and exceptional housekeeping. Good choice of foods at breakfast and at weekends they serve until 11:30am.

To get to the hotel you can take the train from Schipol airport which costs around 3.50 Euros after which you have a very pleasant 20 min amble to the hotel, the airport bus drops you at the door for 10 Euros and a taxi cost a little over 50 Euros. The hotel does have an arrangements with a taxi company for 35 Euros which we discovered when we checked out.

Would recommend this hotel and would be very happy to stay again.

We have stayed at this hotel several times and will go again this weekend. While the rooms are on the small side and the toiletries are just plain weird, we really like this hotel. The hotel has an excellent location, great breakfast, clean rooms, great bar and the best concierge staff I have ever come across anywhere. Radisson also abides by its promise to beat any other websites price - by 25% - I made a claim and they came through. Enjoy!

I have spent two nights at the Radisson in Amsterdam. It's typically a chain hotel: good service, good location, no surprise, good rates. I did not like the decoration of my room (good size): kind of modern art deco style (exactly the same deco at the Radisson in Brussels), it lacks taste and style. I did not like neither the very average quality of cotton of the sheets.

Overall it's a good hotel, very convenient.

Top Local Tips for Amsterdam

The Martian Embassy... ...is right next door to the hotel. You wouldn't believe it if you didn't see it with your own eyes. And, no, it has nothing to do with the influence of coffee houses nearby.

Airport shuttle versus taxi to airport The Radisson SAS was charging 12.50 (euros) for a seat in the shuttle bus to the airport but a taxi only costs 38 euros. If there are more than three of you it's way better value for money, more comfortable and not to mention quicker! Plus, the airport shuttle likely makes its way to a couple hotels in the area so youre not having to wait for others.

Zoo Visit the Zoo. One of the oldest in the world. Spacious and "happy" animals. Bring your digital camera.
