Bedbugs with a good location
from NYEsqThe room was very quiet, and the bed actually not bad. I would have said this was above average, but for the bugs.
perfect location
from ClairyGreat location, excellent value and superb location
from LoosealBest Hotel Yet
from I_Love_AmsterdamUpon my arrival the girl at reception was polite, courteous, fast and efficient(she was also --- sexy). In just 4 minutes I was on my way to my room on the 4th floor.
My 1st impressions of the room were what I expected. Clean & functional. I must admit the bathroom was the best that I have had so far.
The icing on the cake was that my room overlooked the actual square.
Now I know a lot of people have made an issue of the street noise but hey compared to London this was peaceful. Ok you got the odd rumbling of the trams going past but I`m used to planes flying above my bedroom at home at night so this was no problem.
The electronic safe was brilliant. For the 1st time in Amsterdam I could leave my room with confidence that no sod could make off with my passport and credit cards.
I also liked the credit card style lock to the room so you can just come and go as you like without having to ask for your key at reception all the time.
I didn't`t use the restaurant or room service so I can`t comment on these.
As usual the PPV movies were overpriced Euro 12.50 per film is still way too much to pay.
Checking out this morning was again fast and efficient.
I will give this hotel 4.5 out of 5 stars. Euro 360 + tax for 3 nights in Amsterdam was value for money. (P.S I booked this via bookings.nl)
If I ever visit Amsterdam again I will always use this hotel from now on.
Decent hotel
from jeznfuThere were original paintings by the artist Schiller everywhere in the hotel, even the rooms.
I found that the 1920's art-deco lift was good fun to use as it was like stepping back into a 1920's gangster movie!
There was a basket of fresh juicy apples at reception which was replenished each day, as were a bowl of sweets.
A chocolate was left on your pillow each day, along with rather nice orange / lemon clear soaps / shower gels including (wait for it ladies) body lotion!!! and so on.
We paid around 100 euros for a double room per night for three nights.
Staff were great. Rooms clean, fresh, quiet, with good view across the area.
Both my wife and I were happy with this hotel and if she was happy then I was happy - apart from too much shopping nearby in the flowermarket!!
Lovely place, decent location.
from A TripAdvisor MemberNice stay at Schiller..

from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Schiller Lived Up to Expectations
from travelwiseThroughout our stay the room and the bathroom were kept perfectly clean and service was quick and friendly. When we noticed the room was chilly the first night, a floor heater was brought up immediately and certainly did the job. The beds had duvets and were extremely comfortable.
Although the room price did not include breakfast, they offered us a 25% discount to eat breakfast because of the internet booking, where breakfast wasn't an option. The terrific breakfast buffet was priced at only 12 Euros with the discount (16 without). Considering the quantify and quality, it was well worth it. If you eat at a cafe, you end up spending at least 10-12 Euros for a glass of juice, toasted sandwich and cup of coffee. Here there was all kinds of juice, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, breads, cheeses, breakfast meats, eggs, sausauge, bacon, cake, tiny pancakes... you get the idea. Oh, I almost forgot -- champagne, too!!
I loved the location -- you could walk to all central tourist sites and three trams run right by the front of the hotel on the Rembrandtplein. There are many good restaurants and cafes nearby and down the block there's an Easy Internet Cafe that is a great bargain. I would definitely stay here again.
Trip to NH Schiller (March 05)
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe checked in early and left our luggage behind the counter until our room was available. The hotel is comfortable and has character. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the square - great view. However, if you are a light sleeper you could be disturbed by the late night street noise. Ask for a higher floor or a room at the back of the hotel. The continental breakfast at 9 Euros was good value and the staff were very helpful.
Six of us travelled by taxi to the airport from outside the hotel. It took 20 minutes and only cost 20 Euros (we had been quoted 35 Euros when we booked it).
Top Local Tips for Amsterdam
Connexion bus book return at airport and get hotel to confirm the day before ... sooo easy!
airport to hotel Get a train from the airport to central station, then get a tram from outside to rembrandtplein. This saves approx 40 euros compared to a taxi.
De Bakkerswinkel For breakfast/lunch/tea and cake go to De Bakkerswinkel bakery & cafe on Warmoestraat. A little bit of heaven on a horrible street. they do the most divine sandwiches, cakes etc. Always quite busy but service is quick so you never have to wait long for a table. The hot filled rolls from the oven are to die for, the cheesecake is pretty good too.
