A beautiful hotel in the heart of the city. Lovely views and access to good restaurants and cafes. Easy to find -I have no sense of direction yet didn't get lost once. I'd recommend it to anyone.

No respect for tradition

I stayed at the Doelen at least a dozen times between 2000 and 2004, but will never stay there again. The had a restaurant, the Balmoral, that was an architectural and artistic treasure. But they destroyed it -- all the artwork and architectural details -- to put in a chain coffee shop. No hotel that has so little respect for tradition should be patronized. The Doelen is a hotel to avoid.
