Great hotel, great location

We booked this hotel for a short break after reading some of the reviews on this site, and we weren't disappointed.
The location is perfect. The hotel is within walking distance of most of the main attractions, and is just down the road from the Rijksmuseum and Van Gogh Museum. It's a couple of minutes' walk from Leidseplein, which you can get to easily from Centraal Station by tram.
Our request for a quiet room had been taken into account - we were at the back of the hotel, and didn't hear a sound from outside during the four nights we were there! The room itself was decorated in modern browns and creams with a wood floor and was spotlessly clean. The bed was really comfortable and there were blackout curtains - the only drawback with this was that it was difficult to get up in the mornings! The bathroom was also spotlessly clean, with a fabulous walk-in shower.
We liked the extra touches such as an iron and ironing board, and the powerful hairdryer and magnifying mirror in the bathroom.
The staff were efficient and really friendly - something we've found to be a rare occurence!
I would certainly recommend this hotel - we're already planning to return before the end of the year!

The hotel was very clean and the staff very helpful in providing an easy to use city map. Would definitely stay at this hotel again if visiting Amsterdam.
Nice Stay at the NH Amsterdam Centre

Stayed 1 night at this hotel for an anniversary break. Chose this hotel after reading some of the previous reviews.
I have to say we were not disappointed by the care and attention the staff gave us - all without any apparent expectation of a tip !
The room was clean (except for some staining on the sofa) and decorated in very soothing dark wood, browns and creams with a dark wooden floor.
The room was a nice size for us as a couple but there is no possibility of accommodating an extra bed for those with kids in tow.
Location close to Liedsplein, Vondelpark and the museums was excellent an only a 10 minute tram ride away from Centraal Station. The nearest tram stops are in Liedsplein opposite the Bulldog pub.
Breakfast is open till 11am weekdays an 12pm weekends which is highly civilised !

Really excellent hotel - highly recommended. The room was spacious, perfectly clean and the beds extremely comfortable. Although small, the bathroom was faultless.
The hotel staff were extremely helpful and nothing was too much trouble even when they would probably rather have been watching their national football team on the tv!
The location is very good, only ten minutes on the tram from the Centraal Station and then a short walk.
We would definitely stay there again - in fact we are already planning to do so.

Refurbished, Good choice!

Recently refurbished in the Dutch Modern Style, rooms were decorated in brown & creams.The deluxe room,(queensize bed,lounge,safe etc) for the extra money was well worth it. We viewed a standard room which would be ok for a couple but we needed the space. Rm 251 looks down into the small patio/garden, & was big enough to "dance the tango".Travelling with an infant, the extra lounge area provided ample play/crawling space without the huge travel cot(provided) and our pushchair overflowing into it.
The quietness was only ever punctuated by the odd distant police siren, which was excellent considering its city location & we slept without the aircon preferring open windows.
Toiletries were extensive & of good quality, the only downside to the rooms....limited wardrobe space, as it also house the ironing board, and although fitted cupboards, there wasnt a set of drawers?
As a back pain suffer I was impressed with the various different bed pillows on offer.The combination of a quality pocket sprung bed & the choice of "neck pillow" made for an excellent nights sleep.('twas just like home - much to my husbands relief !! )
The roomservice menu influenced from the inhouse Italian Resturant was of very good quality, & very substantial(we shared starters & cheeseboard).Ice machine on every floor also.
The huge buffet breakfast would provide even the heartiest of appetites with a challenge & was open until 11am.
Staff helpful & very friendly & assisted with pushchair up & down front 5 steps as no ramp access to hotel.
Taxis available for transfer(from hotel) to/from airport at 30 euro, but we took train to central station and then Tram to Leidesplein, walked over canal (in direction of canal bus) accross road to hotel, 2mins, total cost 13 euros for 2 .Even new to the city it was a doddle, everyone is so helpful!
Other tram & bus tops directly outside, also canal bus stop a few yards further.
We would stay again !

This clean, modern hotel is in an excellent location, near the Vondel Park, and right across from the lively Leidesplein area. Our room was comfortable, but for 200 Euro, I expected a little more. A slightly bigger room, a view, or even breakfast would have been nice. I would put this more in the 150 Euro range.
A Perfect Place to Stay in Amsterdam

Re-located here from the Marriott across the street. We spent 5 nights at this hotel the end of May and can highly recommend it. The rooms are attractive, the beds very comfortable, very nice amenities in the bathroom, very clean, and best of all a friendly, responsive reception and concierge staff who went out of their way to be accommodating. The location is the best -- close to museums and cafes with a little more upscale feeling than around the Central Station area. We spent 2 nights prior to our stay in Amsterdam at the Amsterdam Marriott and found the rooms there to be small and not a good value. We were very happy that we moved to the NH Amsterdam Centre as the rooms were larger (we had a superior king) for less money and it made our stay in Amsterdam so much nicer. I would definitely stay here again.

Couldn't have asked for more. Perfect location, helpful staff, comfortable rooms, beds, bathrooms. Only negative was they say they have a fitness centre but you have to pay extra to use it. Wasn't a huge deal.

This is very friendly hotel, in an excellent location. (Having said that we walked from Central station and managed to get lost!) All staff speak good English. Our room wasn't ready when we went to check in but Amsterdam was very busy as it was bank holiday weekend, and they did give us drinks vouchers for the bar while we waited. We had a standard room, which although not huge, was spotless and beautifully decorated. The airconditioning and safety deposit box in the room was an added bonus, as were the ice machines in the corridor. I would definately recommend this hotel and will stay there again.

We stayed at NH Amsterdan Center last week for three nights. I can surely say that the hotel is in the best location for exploring Amsterdam; close to the museum area, Vondelpark, best canal cruise taking off just very near, tram stop in front of the hotel and just off the lively Leidseplein. The rooms are lovely; contemporary decor, relaxed, nice and clean. One thing; if you are looking for trendy and hip places for eat/drink, don't depend on the concierge. The places they offer are far from being interesting. But they surely help in making reservations if you provide them with names that you probably must search over the internet before coming to Amsterdam.
Top Local Tips for Amsterdam
Zaanse Schans You can have more time if you just hop on a train to Zaanse Schans to see the windmills, shoe factory and cheese shop.Its a 20 minute train ride from Centre.Stop at the 4 th stop and walk around 10 minutes and you can see the windmill.its around 3 euros or so for the ticket.worth the trip.
Hotel Location The Museum District and the Jordaan are cleaner and quieter places to stay. We found the closer you got to the Central District, the dirtier the streets were and some of the people were somewhat "seedy-looking." You can walk from one side of the city to the other in a half hour, so move a little outside the Center for accomodations.
Biking in Vondel Park Rent bikes from the bike rental place on the road Overturnstaadt, 2 streets to the right of the entrance to Vondel Park. Biking is a way of life there and be sure not to stand in the bike lane or you will be run over!!!!
