Home Away From Home In Amsterdam!

Returned from another (of a series, lucky me!) of pleasant visits to The Nadia Hotel. It's a wonderful place to stay, a great location near the Dam Square, with a beautiful historic building exterior, and doll house sized rooms with interesting bathroom configurations inside. Each room is different from all other rooms. The hotel was recently remodeled, and bits of vintage charm peek out at you from odd corners. The breakfast room is lovely, it's been restored to elegant Victorian style with tall ceilings decorated with plaster ornaments, lush draperies, elegant lighting devices, cut flowers, and wonderful views of the busy street, the big church, and the canal. I like to sit on the canal side and look at the water with the occasional pleasure boat or group of ducks cruising by during breakfast. Reserving a room at The Nadia is like entering a lottery where everyone wins. You might get a room with balcony, you might get a canal side room with wonderful arched window. You might, as I did in April, end up on the top floor with a room having massive exposed wood beams and angular architecture which makes you feel like Heidi in her room at the top of Alm Uncle's cottage in the Alps. Yes, there are stairs (!!!) and the rooms are small. This is Holland and these features are very Dutch. The staff will carry your luggage to your room, and down stairs at the end of your visit. This charming, friendly hotel is local color at its best. The staff is agreeable and the security is reasuring. The Nadia is EXCELLENT value for the price. If you only stay at the Sheraton in America, this is not the same. The Nadia Hotel is a very Dutch establishment in a convenient location, at a reasonable price. Karen

I have been here several times and I really feel at home. The hospitality of all staff as if I am among my family. The rooms are small, but have everything that I may need up to wireless internet for FREE.
The location is second to none. The price is very moderate. I highly recommend this hotel.

True Home Away From Home!

I've just returned from another wonderful visit to Amsterdam and to my only hotel there, the Nadia. This was my 13th visit and I spent 17 nights at the Nadia this trip. Someday (hopefully soon)I'll move to Amsterdam, but until then I'll be happy to stay at the Nadia and enjoy the truly genuine friendliness of everyone there and the excellent location within the city. I find the location central to my favorite places in the city and with a Tram stop very close by, getting to areas further out is very easy. And there is so much very close by also. Many nights this trip while out in the city, I'd tell myself that it was time to head "home", then remind myself that I meant "my hotel". And that says it all, I really feel welcome and very comfortable at the Nadia and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Amsterdam. Osama and All the staff will take the best care of you while in their great hotel, do enjoy.

Just returned from 2nd stay at lovely Nadia. Bravo to Osam (owner) and all the staff. Somehow they managed to outdo their warm, wonderful service from my first visit. My room was clean, bright, small and cozy with balcony, fresh flowers and fruit to welcome me back "home". My 5 days at Nadia were absolutely delightful and I can't wait to return. Hotel is conveniently located to Dam Square and Anne Frank Huis, tram lines. The steep steps to the reception desk appear more daunting than they actually are - don't be put off by them. This hotel is a real gem.

We stayed here 3 nights in October and we enjoyed it a lot. Staff made us feel at home. Very friendly atmosphere. The rooms are small but clean and breakfast is good. Will certainly go back here!

Had to be in the city center for work and it it perfectly located. My room had a nice view on the Westerchurch. I liked the hotel-cat and the people who work in the hotel. Rooms are good but small and indeed the stairs are steep, but they helped with the luggage. Have to be in Amsterdam again in January and will come back to Nadia!

The location of the hotel is bad, very noices on the street. The room is very very small, the bed also too much small. In the breakfast room, the personnel working there forgot many times to give me the coffe in the morning, the croissant not fresh.
The service is very bad, the staff and the Manager are not correct with the guests in the reception and breakfat room, they talk too much between them and not do attention to the customers. The staff has not good relation with the guests.
I will never go back to this hotel.

Hoteol Nadia is perfectly fine for a budgety type hotel. However, I have seen great reviews and often wonder if I stayed at the same hotel!! It is true that the staff that I saw were very friendly indeed and they do help you with the ladder staircase.

My room was okay but nothing special at all. It was quite basic and I didnt really think it was worth the 100 euro that was paid.

Straff great, rooms basic but clean.

I could not reccommend this place enough. The staff are amazing, the manager went out of his way to make sure that I enjoyed my stay. The facilities are clean and well priced but the one thing that stands out about this hotel is the attention to detail. From your welcome drink, to booking tours the staff stop at nothing to make sure that you are well attended to and have a relaxing time. I cant wait to return.

I've just got back from a lovely weekend in Amsterdam. We stayed at the Nadia Hotel and were very pleasantly suprised. The first thing you see when you open the door is a massive steep staircase. Immediately, the receptionist shouted down for us to leave our luggage at the bottom and someone would bring it up for us. We weren't due to check in until 1pm (we arrived about 9.30am), but they were so welcoming and invited us to help ourselves to breakfast in the dining area. The staff were lovely and friendly and I found the whole experience enjoyable.
The hotel is perfectly located next to the westerkerk (you can hear the bells chime) just round the corner fromt he Anne Frank House (well worth a visit). We found the location to be fairly central to all parts of the city. Although the room was small, it was clean and comfortable. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel.

Fantastic!

Couldnt have asked for more! the staff were more than happy to help and went out of their way to make our 3 day stay really enjoyable. I highly recommend this hotel and will be making many visits back to it! Lots of stairs so definately not suitable for agile people. Otherwise - Fantastic

Excellent Staff - Small Room

from A TripAdvisor Member
The staff at the Nadia Hotel couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. They made my stay there. I was dissappointed with the size of the room - we could barely get around it. But very clean, and again, the staff made it worth it.

Excellent service and very helpful and friendly staff

My husband and I had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. It's definately value for money along with all the other trimmings; Friendly and helpful staff; perfect location near central Amsterdam and you are even entitled to a substantial continental breakfast. We loved it and will be back soon.

For location, sparkling cleanliness and value, the Nadia is hard to beat, but the friendliness of the staff make the holiday. Nothing is too much trouble to ensure your stay is comfortable.

Like others we hope to return soon to the Nadia and Amsterdam -the family acceptance and consideration we found exceptional - you cannot buy this quality!

nadia hotel, my second family

I spent 1 week in Nadia Hotel and I really enjoyed it! It was wonderful! The ppeople were so friendly and kind, always trying to help in everything that you need. The rooms were very snug, tidy, warm and clean, good rooms... I decided to travel alone, sometimes this can make you feel insecure, but my stay in amsterdam was incredible, the place and the staff really made me feel at home!!!

Nadia cheap and clean

from A TripAdvisor Member
my boyfriend and I stayed at the Nadia in Januaryof 04 we where a little in shock when we saw the stairs but all and all the Nadia was not that bad our room was small but we had a balcony and the hotel itself was kept clean and we got a some exercise by walking up those stairs twice a day. If you are looking for a cheap clean place in Amsterdam the Nadia is your place. But be prepared it is nothing special

Hated it!

from Raas
We stayed here in October 2002.The room we were given was on the top floor, we needed oxygen by the time we'd got up there! The double room we were given was dreadful, if one of us wanted to get in or out of the bathroom door, the other had to sit on the bed to make way. There was no light shade on the main light, the shower was a mere trickle and it was just generally dingy.Would rather stay at home than go back to the Nadia!

Stayed two nights with husband and daughter, location was fantastic - you are in the centre of it all. We were aware of the steps as it was highlited before booking but it made the hotel even more like a typical 'Amsterdam' house. For what you pay, the rooms were as expected. As for the staff, well they were EXCEPTIONAL!!! We even got invited to a small family gathering as it was the owners birthday party which included a cake to be shared out. Our daughter thought it was the best thing ever!! If you want genuine hospitality then definitely stay here.
Without a doubt we shall return on our next trip. The only downside for us was the noisy traffic throughout the night, but then we did book a budget room and our room was overlooking the main street.

Really friendly and helpful staff

from A TripAdvisor Member
I went with 3 of my friends, we found that the staff were really helpful and friendly. The stairs up to reception were a little steap but not really a problem and the toilet/shower was a little cramped but everything else was really good. Breakfast from about 7.30am to 10.30am allows you plenty of time to get something to eat. The location of the hotel is excellent, right by the center of amsterdam and just 10 minutes walk to most places!! For what you pay, it really was good. The rooms are nice, they have a fridge, t.v with cable and a safe. I will definetly go back to the hotel when i go back to amsterdam.

Top Local Tips for Amsterdam

Cafe Panorama, Radhuisstradt, Amsterdam A very nice restaurant/café serving pizza, pasta and steak dishes. Reasonably priced, lovely atmosphere and nice music (sometimes live). Will also serve coffee/drinks.

Best street food and take out! Love the Indonesian take out shops, food is really good and reasonable. Take some, they will heat it up, and have lunch in a park. It's cheap, nice surroundings and great taste.

Good food in Amsterdam For good ethnic food at a decent price, head to De Pijp!
