Don't go about on your own Don't go about on your own after 1.00am, very risky. Lots of people that could do some harm, if you look vunerable

Red Light do's and don'ts 1. Men will approach you in the hope of selling you drugs, just ignore them and move on or politely say "no thanks" and again move on. Don't make eye contact with them as they will think you actually want to do business. Don't be worried, this isn't as scary as it sounds ! 2. Don't under any circumstances take photos of the prostitutes in the windows otherwise you will have a pimp bouncing on your head within the minute. 3. Do enjoy the atmosphere of the district, the canals are beautiful and the bars are plentiful. Just be as careful as you would be on a night out at home and you'll be fine. I've had many nights out here over the years with no problems at all. 4. Do visit other parts of the city just a short walk away, The Jordaan is especially beautiful with a completely different atmosphere to the Red Light district just a few streets away. 5. Do go to Amsterdam, it's the best city in the world !!

Centraal Book a hotel close to the station! A'dam is small, easy to get around and getting to and from the station with your bags should be the major consideration. You can easily get to the museums or other sites, if that is your desire, but getting to and from Centraal, with your bags, should be made easier by booking a hotel closer to it!
