This hotel is much better than most hotels in Amsterdam. We stayed in about 8 hotels in Amsterdam. The staff were very helpful and friendly and the rooms very comfortable and clean. Good place to recommend!

Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is a very nice hotel located in a peaceful street in the centre of Amsterdam. The room was perfect: good beds, very clean and everything inside. The breakfast was good and the staff is very helpful and has a lot of knowledge about Amsterdam

Customer service a foreign concept

Outside of being a available hotel at the time, there were no redeeming qualities about the hotel staff. Watch out for the Arab man who works the front desk in the evenings, he seems to have a lot of animosity towards Americans and has no qualms showing it. I've been to 3rd world countries as received more courtesy and better treatment. I mentioned how badly I was treated to management and they seemed completely disinterested. The breakfast included consisted of a soft boiled egg and bread with a live worm on it. Again management seemed to careless maybe basic customer service it a foreign concept to Nicolaas Witsen staff. Do you self a favor and spend the extra to get decent service.
