My husband and I had the opportunity to stay in the Hotel Fita just a few weeks ago. Not only was the location great, the staff wonderful, the breakfast delicious and the rooms very clean. But the people that own the hotel went above and beyond to help us out during a possible disaster. Several hours into out trip back to Germany I discovered that I lost my passport. Some kind person found it on the streets of Amsterdam and returned it to the Hotel Fita. (I had a postcard from the hotel folded up in my little travel bag) The owner of the hotel started trying to find me, even called our contact number back in the US to see if anyone here could get in touch with me. When we found it missing we called the hotel and they told us they had it and were trying to find some way to get it to us. In the end my husband had to fly back to Amsterdam the next day. When he arrived at the Hotel Fita there was my bag with everything still in it. We did appreciate all of their efforts in getting my bag to me and keeping it safe until we could pick it up. Thanks to everyone at Hotel Fita I was able to return to the USA the next day after a wonderful trip to Europe. I would highly recommend the Hotel Fita to anyone traveling to Amsterdam. I give it a rating of 10+

A lovely hotel ideally situated for all the visitor highlights.Very comfortable and welcoming - the staff are so friendly too.The breakfast cabaret is an excellent way to start the day - along with the freshly squeezed oranges!

Will certainly return next time we visit Amsterdam.

My husband and I visited the Hotel Fita in Oct 2004. We found the Hotel and accomodations more than adequate. The location was perfect , close to everything but most impressive were the hosts, Mr and Mrs Loes De Rapper; they were magnificent in their roles. I would reccomend Hotel Fita heartily.

Great location, food and staff

from PamK1
When my husband and I arrived, my husband had injured his back. The staff was wonderful, gave us what was promised. A small room with fabulous breakfast every morning. When we asked about a local laundry, they even did our wash for us! They were more than generous with their time and information. I would definitely return. It is literally steps from two tram lines and the Van Gogh museum!

no so good... Cold and noisy

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed in a "busineess room" for 3 nights, the room was clean and confortable but 27 meters...? Besides the heating was very low, and sometimes we were really cold, overcoat in the batroom...

But the worst thing, it was the horrible noise, every mornings our up neighbours waked us up. The noise was so high that it seems that the ceiling was going to fall down. It was not their fault, beacuse in this hotel there is not soundproofing...!!! and in our oppinion in a 3 start hotel it should be fixed.

Staff is really nice and helpful, and breakfast very good.

Fantastic Fita!

We stayed at the Hotel Fita for our fifth wedding anniversary and it was fantastic. The hosts, Hans and Loes de Rapper, are lovely, and have thought of every detail possible to make visitors feel extremely welcome. Hans' humour is hilarious and the English breakfast is superb. Staying in a non-smoking hotel was great—even our smoking friends welcomed the change! There is only one thing that we would add to make make the hotel even more perfect - sausages with the breakfast!

1 Small Room

The Hotel Fita has a lovely location but when traveling for business a room for 1 person is smaller than small. Not accomodating enough for business travel.

Wonderful Hospitality for Couples and Small Families

After a long day of travel we arrived at Hotel Fita to a warm and kind welcome from Loes who was able to put us at ease and even offered to do a load of laundry for us. We were settled into our large clean room which had a cot already prepared for our 11 month old daughter. During our stay we were able to enjoy the excellent breakfasts and walk to most of the best attractions in Amsterdam. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful in meeting our requests including planning our days. We had a wonderful stay and would easily recommend this hotel. We hope to return one day.

P.S. - Hans will serenade you at breakfast for one Euro!

Best Place To Stay

We stayed at Hotel Fita twice, and were VERY pleased with the hotel. It is in a quiet and comfortable area. The hotel is close to various interesting attractions, and the museums near by are breath taking. The Hotel personnel are gracious and very eager to help. The hotel is also placed near a restaurant center, filled with good, not to costly restaurants. Ask about tickets to certain museums. We would recommend renting a bike(s) for a day or more and going around the city, and on scenic routes.

Check It Out!

You couldn't ask for a better hotel when it comes to location, comfort, food and...

the owners gave us such a warm welcome. We were impressed with the rooms. They were cozy and clean. There was a lovely room where breakfast was served and the food was excellent, so was the service. You certainly don't need a car either. The attractions are all within walking distance. (Parking is very expensive, about 28 Euros/day.)

We will certainly go back!
Bonus...the owners did a load of laundry for us.

An extraordinary week!

from A TripAdvisor Member
We had an extraoardinary week at the Hotel Fita!
The accommodations were as described, perfect
for our needs, and in a wonderful part of the city.
The family owners were so helpful that it made our trip even more successful than we anticipated. We
were traveling with our granddaughter and I know
she will never forget the experience; neither shall
we.

Taking the Airport Shuttle vs. Train to the hotel I ended up taking the Airport Shuttle to my hotel (Hotel Fita)! This was quick, convenient and easy! However it was not cheap as it cost me 19 euros for a round trip ticket! The hotel confirmed my return booking so I had no problems getting back to the Airport on time. My friend took the train from the Airport to Amsterdam Central Station and then a tram to the hotel. This was considerably cheaper at a total cost for both the train and the tram being around 6 euros per way.
