The rate was very high for the room, as compared to the more upscale rooms we stayed in in Antwerp, Belgium, and Belfort France during our trip- those rooms were much nicer, and much cheaper than the Groenhof room. On the plus side, the Groenhof had the most comfortable beds and very fluffy pillows, this was the best thing about staying there. It was disappointing and very odd that we were told that no food was allowed in the rooms, we had never heard of that! We ordered out, and we had to go downstairs to the Breakfast Room to eat it. There is not a restaurant there so you either eat out, or order in, which was basically OK with us. The lady at the desk ordered pizza for us. The hotel is not handicapped-friendly, I was on crutches and there were VERY steep stairs going downstairs. I also burnt my hand on the back part of the water faucet on the shower while turning the water off. Not pleasant. The owner, James, was nice to deal with, and gave us some nice suggestions on things to do in Amsterdam.
