The best area to stay in Amsterdam, walking distance to the station and city interests. The staff is very friendly, willing to help at any time. A bit pricey. Basic breakfast could be included.

I had spent very nice days with my family in Amsterdam at Golden Tulip. The Hotel is very comfortable and well located and A'dam is a lovely city. I strongly recommend everybody to spend nice moments in A'dam at Golden Tulip Hotel..... cheers.

Good Location, Better Than Most

I have stayed in Amsterdam on many occassions. and quite often I get annoyed that the hotels are amongst the smallest in the world and you always seem to get lost trying to find the hotel again after going out !!

The Hotel Inntel however, by Amsterdam standards at least, is actually quite good. The location is one of the best, about 3 minutes walk from Dam Square, about 12 minutes from Rembrandt Square and about 6 minutes from the Red Light area. The hotel also has a huge blue flourescent sign on the front which is quite handy if you are trying to find a landmark for the hotel.

The reception staff were efficient and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and very clean and everthing was in working order.

The breakfast was varied and nicely presented, if a little expensive.

All in all, I would be pleased to recommend this hotel as above average for Amsterdam standards, and I would stay again, mainly for the location.

Great Location - Excellent Service

We have just stayed at the above hotel for 2 nights on a special deal by Laterooms.com and it was excellent. The hotel staff were friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The bedrooms were very clean and the mini bar was a bonus (although expensive as they all are!!). Breakfast was excellent, ranging from fresh fruit to cooked fare. Would we stay there again?- YES!

Stayed here January 25, 2005. My room rate was $125 per night, pre paid through Expedia---. My room was quiet and comfortable. This was a good hotel for the price.

i stayed here weekend of 08-10 jan 05.had a good rate of £70 per room per night with expedia.I have stayed here before & never had any problems with it.It has a excellent location next to central station.All the main attraction are close by.The exterior is a little too modern, but dont be put of by this as the rooms are very nice & clean

Superb Location

A great hotel - staff not too welcoming as other reviewers have commented but fair enough, dealing with customers is not always a great experience. The rooms are clean, modern and efficient with tidy bright bathrooms. Rooms have coffee & tea facilities, air-con, mini-bar, safe and a hairdryer and a splendid modern power shower in the bathroom. Limited cupboard space, however. Not an overtly impressive hotel but you can see that 5* potential is there. 5 minutes walk from Centraal Station just off one of the side streets on Damrak round the corner from C&A. Minutes away from Dam Square, Niewmarket and all the main shopping and tourist areas. Would definitely stay there again without hesitation if we got the same Internet rate again.

Was in Amsterdam this summer and found this hotel great. The conserge even told me were i could find some good weed at. He also was very helpful in helping us find the redlight district. Very centrally located. Going Back to Amsterdam in March for 9 days staying here another cool is i smoked weed in my room and the never complained about it. It was also nice how they had that bowl of candies nearby for when we got back. I admit the rooms were very small but its europe so you can expect that from europe. What is also nice is that there is like 6 cafes nearby so if i dont feel liking venturing out to spuistreet one night i can stay local.

Good Hotel, Great Location

Stayed here for a long weekend last week - 4days worth. In contrast to an earlier review, we arrived around 12pm, (knowing check-in was at 3pm) and politely left our luggage there, and came back at 5pm and checked in properly.

We had a very nice, clean, non-smoking decent sized deluxe room on the top floor. Everything worked as advertised, and was nice and quiet. The hotel staff were very pleasant and friendly, and assisted in our every need. Very good location, e.g near the train station, and everything is in walking distance. I would be happy to stay at this hotel again.

Staff are so rude and tried to charge us for things we didnt have!

I would not go back to this hotel or recommend it to anyone, the staff are so rude and obnoxious, when we went to settle our bill they tried to charge us 35 Euros for the breakfast we had taken that morning, I paid the charge and then noticed on my confirmation I had paid for the breakfast in the price so I went back to let them know, the look I got from all the staff, well you would have thought I was just expected to accept it, I dont mind spending money but Im not going to waste it!! Also the mini bar they tried to over charge us on that as well so if you are planning a trip to this hotel just be very careful when checking out or when you check in ask about the breakfast thing!! Good luck, hopefully they were just on a bad day when we went.

Don't believe everything you read!

For the last night of a 10-day business trip, I booked online an executive room at 120 EU/night.

The description stated "The Executive has the same facilities as the Superior and it offers the guest the following facilities: a trouser press, a newspaper, a shaving mirror, a bathrobe and luxurious bath accessories." Well, no press, no bathrobe, no newspaper, no mirror but my room did have the luxurious bath accessories ..... whatever they were. The shower did come with a hole which spewed water all over the place.

Contrary to the printed material, the room did not have internet access.

The front desk clerk was a trainee who could not find the hotel on the map she handed me. When I checked out, the same clerk did not know how to process a partial cash payment.

On the upside, the room was clean and modern-looking. Location is excellent.

Businessmen who expect prompt service and the basic amenities, this hotel is not for you

Stayed there with my fiance twice (nov 2003 and mar 2004) will be going back for 4 nights in October 2004. We just love this hotel the location is ideal its in a quiet square but seconds away from the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. On our last visit I wasnt happy with our 'dining room' view but the staff exchanged our room without fuss.. full marks. This hotel is spotless and the 'eat as much as you like' breakfast is excellent albeit a bit expensive as there are better hotels offering cheaper breakfasts!! inntel take note!
All in, I wouldnt hesitate in recommending this hotel to anyone, infact I have done a few times.

Top Local Tips for Amsterdam

train to centraal station Have change at hand for the tube journey to centraal station. the machine does'nt take notes and its a pain if you've been on the beer. Make sure to get to the airport in good time also

Toilets Make sure you have loose change a lot of large bars will charge us to use the toilet facilities!!Anything between 25cent and 50 cent!

hotel location How you get to the hotel depends on which end of the train station you come out of… if you come out of one end of the station the Victoria hotel is directly across from you if you walk directly toward it… when you are in front of the hotel take a right walk straight down the street and a left at the first corner. If you come out the other end of the station and the Victoria Hotel is diagonally across from you don’t walk towards it (that is what we did, wrong way) walk straight to the nearest corner, when you reach the corner and the Victoria is at the corner on the other end of the street continue walking straight don’t walk toward the Victoria. Walk straight and the hotel will be on the left.
