I have stayed in Anco several times. The Hotel is very clean the bedrooms are serviced every day, the staff are very friendly and the breakfast is very fresh. The ideal place to be if you like the hustle and bustle of what the city can offer you. Has a very cruisey atmosphere during the night, leave you door open and you won’t be disappointed for some kinky attention. The stairs are a little steep, but don't forget you are in a historical city. HIGHLY RECOMENDED.

Basic, but helpful, friendly, and great location

I stayed here for a couple of nights on a last minute trip to Amsterdam. I booked a bed in the shared room (3 total beds). Turns out I had the whole room to myself. Staff was amazingly helpful (esp. since I was delayed in arrival and had lost luggage). Breakfast was adequate and european - if you are expecting an american breakfast you won't find it. I enjoyed it. The location was perfect for me as I am a city walker type. Close to tons of stuff (including the Central Station). I would gladly stay here again.

No frills but cheap and central

I have stayed at Hotel Anco several times, but this is not a hotel for everyone. On the plus side, it is very close to Centraal Station and cheap. It is also situated close to many of the City's Gay Leather Bars and many of the customers will have an interest in Leather and Fetishwear. However, the rooms are extremley basic. The beds are not pleasant -I have only stayed in a single-room and the bed was a tiny metal camp bed with a white sheet and a grey blanket on it. The room was very small. Breakfasts are pretty dire and to be honest, you are better off going out to a nearby cafe. There is a bar area serving coffee, alcohol and snacks with a PC for free internet access -one of the better points of this hotel. If you want any kind of comfort or luxury, ANCO is defintley not the hotel for you, and I think it is pretty over-priced for what it is.
