The hotel was very central to everything situated on the main street and for the price was great. The hotel was clean all the beds were clean and the shower and toilet was also clean. The reception staff were polite and friendly. It was ideal for a weekend stay and I would go back to this hotel if I was to stay in Amsterdam again. The stairs were a bit tight and windy but that all added to the holiday.

Used to be a nice Spanish guy that owned this hotel. Great location and rooms OK for the price. Going back to Europe again in 2007 with my 28 year old son.... Rock On!! Amsterdam :)

We had a 3 person room which was barely a single, the single bed the mattress hung off the side with dirty sheets. The double was actually a 3 quarter. Location was the only good thing. The young Chinese man downstairs was a twat and lucky I didnt knock him out, apart from that the staff were nice. Flooded bathroom which you couldnt even turn around in, TV with 3 channels. Stairs are like climbing a mountain. Never go there; its a rip-off for the money!!!!

I stayed here with 2 friends and we all were well impressed. We stayed for seven nights, got absolutley monged everyday and found the hotel room very comfortable. The tv was handy because we had such a long stay it would've been to hard to stay out and about all that time. I didnt like the fact there was no fridge in the room, thats were I'm docking a mark. I like my heiniken cold and plentyful. The rooms have modern furniture and are well decorated. I was off my tits on magic mushrooms one night and the wallpaper was peeling off the wall, thats when I noticed that the room didnt look to bad, seemed to be kept maintained ya know! Anyway where was I, ooh yea, the view from our window was a vibrant street, I was well out of it for most of the trip so if we were in the hotel I'd look out the window instead of looking at the tv, was sum street.. the amount of people and stuff going on was great, buskers and all that shii. The service in the hotel was great , clean sheets and towels whenever you need them. There are vending machines by reception for all your munchie needs... which also sold coke and beer. You also can purchase tea at reception (if like to take your mushrooms with tea!) All round fine establishment, so good that 10 of us are goin back to the same hotel for 8 nights in the summer. To get absolutely sloshed!!!!!!!!!!! Weh hey!!!!

I return from our second trip to this hotel disappointed.
On our first night the fire alarm went off, scaring the shit out of us at 3am- some guy smoking. The view from our window was of the staff cigarette yard, complete with menacing-looking ladder which anyone could climb up.
We got bitten by fleas which caused terrible marks! We will never stay here again. As you can see by my review before, that was great but this time it was awful.

Stayed for three nights in this hotel staff were very welcoming and friendly. the location was perfect just out the front door was the main street where all the action takes place it is within five minutes walk of central station and all major attractions the only draw back was the noise from the street we found it very difficult to sleep also the walls between rooms were paper thin so you could hear everything that was going on in the rooms around you as a result I would probably not stay here again

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Continental Centre Hotel in August 2004. This is a 2 star hotel which is situated on the main Damrak street in Amsterdam, leading to the Dam Square.
As soon as we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. I had accidently booked an extra night, as I had not taken our overnight ferry the previous day. The receptionist was very understanding about this. Although we did have to pay for the lost night before, they did not charge our card for a missed night.
The room was clean and well decorated. The view from the windows was of the alley and you could turn to see the Grasshopper coffee shop aswell as the path to the Red Light District.
We had our own bathroom which was very clean.
Although the hotel's breakfasts were very good value, the receptionist was selling water at 2 Euros per bottle. In the shops the same thing was about 70 cents.
Overall, our stay was excellent and we are trying to book there again for October!
