Hotel Belga-more like hotel Vulgar

6 of us have just returned from a 3 day stay at hotel belga. We were very dissapointed with the hotel. It is nothing like the photos on their website. Me and my partner stayed in room 5,possibly the worst room,as it was situated at the top of the stairs where everyone passes. The walls are very thin and we could here the people in the next room. When walking into room 5 it was like a sauna as we were immediately hit by the heat of the radiator. We later discovered, after asking for the radiator to be turned down, that this was because the window did not shut properly, probably due to the enormous crack outside our window and the fact that they have installed a window which doesn't fit, just like the crack on the outside of room 6 which my sister stayed in. Room 5 is also on a slant and we had to turn the beds the other way around so that the blood didn't rush to our heads!! No towels were provided either, luckily we took our own, although my sisters in rooms 4 & 6 were?? The breakfast was not bad though and there was plenty of hot water when taking a shower. Staff were friendly enough and the hotel is in a good location-approximately 3 min walk to dam square. If the hotel had told us when we booked,that room 4 had room for 4 people to sleep, we would of only booked 2 rooms, saving ourselves alot of money, but they didn't. If you do stay at hotel Belga and get room 5, ask or a different one! If we go back to Amsterdam we won't be stopping in this hotel.

First, when I registered they tried to up the rate by almost 30 Euro per night from what was on my email confirmation. Then, after discussing my early morning departure, no one was there to give me the early breakfast advertised on the website, or give me back my room deposit, despite my banging on the door and ringing. (Separate doors for reception and rooms) When I emailed to inquire about getting it back a month later when I came through Amsterdam again, they refused. Won't go there again!
