I'm afraid our experience in this "hotel" wasn't as we expected. We were 6 people who had booked a six-bed room for two nights during the weekend. We booked it more than two weeks in advance and through their website and we received a confirmation e-mail. The day before we arrived, in the evening, the hotel staff called me and told me that there had been a problem with the authorisation of my credit card and that we could only stay for the first night. When we arrived the only solution the man at the desk gave us was to split into several rooms and pay 45 euros/person/night instead of 30 euros, which was what we had arranged. He was quite rude and he didn't care at all about us. We paid cash for that night and looked for another place to stay. The 7-bed room we got (although we were just 6 people) has little to do with the pictures, at least it's not as nice and clean. Quaint and friendly

This hotel was our first stop on a week long trip. The staff was very friendly. The rooms are small, but the beds were really comfortable. It is in a safe neighborhood near the tram lines, and you can walk to Rembrant Sq. Central Station is a cab ride away. No elevators and no drugs allowed! Safe, quiet, and clean.

Barbacan the place to stay

We have been to the Barbacan hotel Amsterdam for our honeymoon. And I have to say this place is the best. Nice staff (Nelly, Jurry and josien) are so nice. This hotel make you feel special. We made the booking by internet www.barbacan.nl. We are comming back in 2006. Love you all. And God bless you. Jaimey Clarkson
