My brother and I arrived and the reception was great. We accidentally booke dinto a double instead of a twin but the man at reception changed the room for us without a hassle. Breakfast was excellent and the staff helped us out alot. For the price, you could not get a better location. The cat 'Moreno' was a nice surprise and we had a great view of the canal. I've stayed at more expensive hotels in Amsterdam but they never made me feel as at home as the staff at the Eureka!!

Our stay was in September 2005 - my (female) friend and I arrived to find we had been booked into a double bedded room - instead of the requested twin room.The pleasant and efficient member of staff (from California!) changed the room with no hassle. Our room overlooked the Amstel. The room was clean, tea/coffee was provided, the beds were comfortable and - best of all - we had a bath as well as a shower. The buffet breakfast choice was very good. It made an excellent base and was ideally placed for the visits we wished to make both locally and further afield. It was also within easy reach of a variety of good eating places. We would definately return and would recommend this as a good budget hotel.

Avoid This Hotel

We had one of our worst experiences ever staying at this hotel. The hotel is run down, not at all well maintained, and very unsafe (our room was robbed while we were there). The staff is not to be trusted, and the owner of the hotel refused to deal meaningfully with the problems we had.

Well located but...

Well located, nice reception, nice breakfast but I was very upset to see that for this category of hotel: A curtain was about 20 cm longer than the other one, covered of big dirty marks. Bed cover was dirty. Cupboard door was completely broken. This would be so easy to improve!
