Ideal location
As we left the karaane hotel to stay here we were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the hotel. It was more in keeping as a 4 star. The only slight moan was the bathroom. The food was good and position of the hotel exellent. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Great service &staff
First visited this hotel ten years ago. Holiday at this hotel twice a year. They are upgrading bedding seats on balconies. The staff are brill - charlie and raymond will do their best if you have any problems. Have been going to Malta for 25 years - best hotel yet it's the one for me.

Lovely hotel but could be improved
As many others may have noticed this is not a 4 star hotel in the uk sense. However, we enjoy the atmosphere, the location and the friendly service so much that we are planning our fourth stay at this hotel. The meals are more than adequate, although the evening meals are nearly all in sauce (not to everyones taste). The rooms are well maintained, beds made daily and towels changed frequently. The staff are very friendly and obliging. Some improvements would be to move the comfortable furniture from the reception area where it is rarely used, into the bar area in stead of the very uncomfortable furniture currently there. This may increase bar sales. Try to improve the lifts so they do not keep going faulty (not with us in them so far!!!I have been to Malta since I was fifteen and now take my family, we love Malta and its people and this hotel due to its staff and location is now our first choice. It is far better than many we have talked about with other visitors of the same star ratin...Read more

A great week, making new friends!
I have to take this opportunity to speak up on behalf of the staff at The Gillieru Harbour Hotel. We have just visited Malta for the first time, and spent a delightful week at the Gillieru. We are 29 and 31 years of age.
::ROOM SERVICE
Now, if you're used to pampering yourself in UK 4* hotels you may be a little disappointed; however, the Gillieru matches any good UK 3* hotel, and is on a par with many Mediterranean 4* hotels. The room was complete with mini-bar, well-priced and refilled daily. The room was tidied and cleaned daily, with clean towels provided, and extra ones available on request for the pool. The TV had a mix of channels - from the interesting TV Malta, through the bizarre Italian channels, to BBC World and BBC Prime. Complimentary shower gels and shampoos were also very welcome.
::THE STAFF
All very friendly. We found that some of the early morning restaurant staff were perhaps a little over-efficient, with our coffee and tea being refilled as soon as t...Read more
