I brought my 84 year old mother to Malta as she has always wanted to visit the island and I have been several times. The Marina sounded good in the Belair brochure so I chose it. We had half board and single rooms with no view. I expected therefore not to have a view - I did not expect that the rooms would have no daylight at all! The beds were appalling - mine was an old iron bedstead and my mother's was a divan with a hole in the base which had been covered over with a wooden board. The bedlinen was poor quality and the pillows hard and lumpy. The food at supper was basic in the extreme and served up like a canteen. No traditional dishes at all and what there was was not cooked well. The staff however were charming and helpful but the general presentation and quality was in no way up to 3 star standard. Although I may go to Malta again I will certainly not be staying at the Marina and will not be recommending it friends.

I have just returned from my first visit to Malta although my husband has been there several times peviously. The hotel does not advertise itself very well and I now know why. The reception staff are brilliant and went out of their way to help us when ever possible, however that is the best I can say. The restraunt staff were not bothered whether you ate or not, there was no good mornings etc. We only booked breakfast thankfully as if we had booked to eat any other meals there we would have asked for a refund. We knew to expect a continental breakfast but the best they could manage was chewy toast and cold coissants. We asked for orange juice and fresh fruit and we were told that they would be a special one day, which day I am not sure! We had to complain about the room service and the cockcroach that I found in my bath! I may have had a bad experience but there are no other reviews to compare it to. My husband had stayed at this hotel 17 years ago and he was also very dissapointed.

bus the busses travel all over the island from just outside the hotel so there is no need to book expensive trips
Weather I would avoid July and August if you do not like very hot weather, I have stayed, Apr, May, and September and never saw rain.
great the bus stops and allthe trip boats are just across the road from this hotel

New Year meal WAS actually GREAT, with good food well served - so they can do it right?
Rooms (ours was at the back) basic, but clean, slightly worn, and yes LUMPY pillows.
Location is good, on the Tingne Seafront (Sliema Creek), just a short walk to the buses (If you can battle your way through the Timeshare Touts and Water/Bus tour sales people)
