Food was disgraceful, hotel was old fashioned and in need of updating. Sun loungers were bottomed out so even lying by the pool was uncomfortable. People said before we went that not to expect a 5 star hotel and we didn't but we also expected a 3 star as advertised. its simply a 2 star hotel at best. Getting a drink meant queuing twice, once at reception for a receipt then at the bar to get a drink! For us we used it simply to sleep there on a night and use the local pubs and restaurants at night. During the day we would go to beach or other places of interest, i.e st julians bay, Valletta, Melliha bay etc. Malta is a great place and this resort is brill too it was a just a shame about the hotel. If we go back we'd go to a apartment and go to the very cheap restaurants in Qwara to eat. Typical Italian £10 for 2 people with a bottle of wine!

I stayed in the palm court in febuary and I thought that it was great value for the money that we paid! The hotel can do with a little revamp but which hotel doesn't! The food is fine, it is mostly a carvery every night but there are loads of other options to choose from and there is salad available for the healthier option. The breakfast is a cooked breakfast with cereals available and unlimited tea and coffee. The dinner is just like the dinner, with loads to choose from but you can order a packed lunch if wanting to stay out for the day, these are really healthy, you get 2 sandwiches, cheese and crackers, fruit and water.
the bar were great, with great staff and good local beer and spirits. The hotel is situated right next to the bus station, which gets you to any part of the island. The people that are moaning about the hotel are expecting 5 star quality but for the price (we paid £792 for 4 people all inclusive), it is a great budget hotel!!!

I think Palm Court is a very good hotel for the money you pay. I have stayed there four times, and think it is clean tidy very friendly. The food is very good, you get lots of it and it is always lots of choice. I stayed at quora palace this time and think it, much better to eat in Palm court. They do not move you around when they have other people in.

Stayed 9 nights april 05 needed a revamp, shabby, lifts unreliable but room clean and adequate, food ok, bar needs redecorating, hotel well situated for local bus services got exactlty what I paid for (£286 for 2 people 10 days). I will use again if only to use as a base. Cheap and Cheerful!

This was a family holiday, 2 of us in their 60's, 4 of us in our 30's, a child of 9 and an infant of 18 months. Every one of us had a wonderful week in October 2005. We have visited Malta twice before and have always found the people very friendly and warm. My brother in law's mother lives in Malta and after reading the reviews we were very concerned about the Palm Court, but were assured by her that the hotel was not as bad as the reviews etc painted. We found that yes the hotel needs updating and the corridors are dingy etc, but the main priorities for us were that the rooms were clean and that the food was good. Our rooms were cleaned each day, with the beds made and new towels, our mattresses were brand new and the bedding was in a new/clean condition. Our air conditioning worked perfectly and there was endless hot water. The food was good with plenty of choice for all of us. The staff were friendly and the lifts never broke down during our stay. We used the hotel as a base as we hired a people carrier and visited lots of places such as Gozo, Comino, Valetta, Sliema, Bugibba, Mellieha, Popeye Village etc etc, all well worth a look. If you want the Ritz you must be mad to expect it at these prices. Don't listen to all the moaners - you'll even meet them while you are there - just laugh and change the subject. I would recommend the Palm Court as an excellent base for a holiday in Malta with good value for money. We will be returning hopefully again next year.

We booked this holiday knowing it was a cheap break, we have been to Malta many times and have stayed in a variety of hotels with various star ratings, this one however is not one we will visit again, its just a convey belt of people arriving and leaving, not a good atmosphere, and we gave up with the bar in the evening because the beer was constantly flat. One good point is that it is a good base to go from to visit the rest of the island. The rooms seemed to vary from quite good to absolutely awful, air con and fans not working, dirty bathrooms, family who went with us (1st visit)had a bathroom with the basin right in front of the toilet which took some negotiating. Food was quite good bearing in mind the numbers that had to be catered for, although on the last few days two of us went down with stomach trouble. We are definately not ones to moan but this hotel needs refurbishment and a good clean.

Having lived in malta for some time I did, it is true, book to stay at the Palm Court with trepidation, it doesnt get a good deal from the local bars and commentaries. However as a budget hotel it was excellent. As long as dont expect 5 star standards but want a reasonable, clean and friendly hotel with good facilities and food then this is fine for you. The biggest problem our group had was from the miserable british tourists with their Hyacinth Bucket attitudes!

We have been visiting Malta for 15 years (since our honeymoon) and love the island. The Maltese always strike you as surley unless YOU take the time to get to know them. The room we just had was huge and although furnished on a budget (look around the Island, luxury isnt astrong point) was clean and comfy. The food is very repetative, but perfectly edible and for less than £130 each halfboard with flights & transfers, leaves plenty of money to eat out if you want to. Overall I would say that if you want a clean place to sleep, do not expect the Ritz and accept that you are paying peanuts, its a great base to explore the island. We will be staying again.

nice island to visit any one wanting fun and great views visit malta and all its sights, the first time i went to malta it was love at first sight.keep going back hoping one day to live in malta, just love the people and all the sights around the island.

Freeways Head to Freeways - it is literally 30seconds from the hotel. The people are very friendly and the prices are very very good. The best thing is that you get to keep the car for the maximum time as you can return it 30seconds away from the hotel! No need to pay for buses or taxi's back from the rental place or have to pay extra for collection!

getting about get out to popeye village, blue grotto, craft villages, valletta market sat/sun eat at vinnys buggibba sea front excellent food service
