We got this as a last minute booking and were not expecting great things following the TV programme we had seen. Admittedly, we had to change rooms on arrival as the ceiling fan was hanging loose, but they changed the room with no quibble. We were pleasantly surprised with the hotel. The rooms were clean, the food may not have been Michelin standard but it was basic & copious. The staff were superb, Bugibba was a short walk away, the bus station is a 5 minute walk away, car hire was reasonable - I would definitely go back

I stayed at this hotel years ago & reading the reviews not a lot has changed since its 'facelift'.
When we went I stayed in a room with a few family members & had problems with our french windows & balcony (both of them were loose!!)
My parents had to be moved twice because the rooms had major leaks due to the weather, leaving my sister with ruined clothes & a soaking wet bed, this was after my parents complained & the ceiling was... wait for it... painted to seal the cracks!! We also had trouble with the complaints proceedures, ie NOTHING WAS DONE TO HELP!
The shower in our room had some sort of fault, I'm not entirely sure what now.
The indoor pool & gym we were promised would be finished was not even in the final stages of planning I don't think & the food was really bad - thank god for Heinz tomato ketchup & bread!!!!
The lift didn't seem to want to work most of the time leaving us a little stuck with my brother who was only about 4 & disabled!
The fire alarms went off on a daily basis leaving the lift out of service & causing us to have to carry my brother down the stairs!
My tip... DON'T EVEN BOTHER! Total waste of money!

I have just arrived back from one week all inclusive and for the first time in my life, never been so relieved to get home from a holiday!!! How this place remains open is beyond me!! With the amount of complaints from nearly everbody in the hotel you would think they would do something about it!
Yes, the holiday was cheap, I didnt expect the Ritz, but I didnt expect to be slumming it for a week. I think if any of the staff had been cheerful/pleasant, it would have made all the difference but not one single member of staff smiled throughout the duration of my holiday. They are stern, they literally snatch things from your hands, they are very rude if you do complain. They must be so used to it though its probably like water off a ducks back.
The food is the same every night, its tasteless, the queing system in place for getting drinks is ridiculous!! Every day there was new arrivals and you had to wait till they had all checked in just to get a drink!!! "All Inclusive" is a con to. When you get there it states the all inclusive period is 11am to 11pm - what they dont tell you is that the pool bar closes for a couple of hours in the afternoon - my little sister wanted an ice cream at 5pm - she was told by reception to wait until 7pm when the bar opened!!!!!
The rooms were dirty, our room had an invasion of cockroaches and the bathroom smelt of mould. Every time you flushed the toilet you had to wait an hour for it to fill back up to flush it again - not good when you are a family of four.
Overall, I would NEVER visit this hotel or even Malta - this hotel and the staff put you off it altogether. If anybody has any sense - DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Where do I start? We had read before hand about this hotel, but we thought people might be over exaggerating, how wrong we were. This place was the pits, it was smelly, badly in need of a MAJOR facelift, the food was the same day in day out, you couldn't see the bottom of the pool, which is illegal, the staff were not very helpful, in fact we had a lady above us who had locked herself out onto her balcony, my wife went to reception to let them know this & was told that my wife would need to look for a cleaner to let the lady back into her room. In general Maltese people were very ignorant; all they want is your money. The only pass marks Palm Court could get, is the weather was great & its location. I don't care what the other reviews say about this hotel, DO NOT GO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have been warned.

Going a year back it was terrible! Alot of people would agree! Yet Alot would disagree! Malta overall was a fantastic place to go, so beautiful! The Hotel just made it so unbearable!
I went with 3 other people, who described it as the same. Do not judge a book by its cover, the pictures may look nice but reality its rubbish! I spent a week there! And a week was plenty!

Our room was small to say it was living 4 Adults. The Fan in the room had broke, which we asked MANY times to be fixed, but never was! The bathroom was disgraceful. And the view from the balcony? A Brick wall with a painted on sea and sun! By the afternoon the sun had gone! The staff were rude and unpleasent. The food was terrible! I wasent of the toilet! Spending most my time being sick! The menu never changed, was the same thing day after day, and it was normally mushy rubbish! I wouldnt feed it to my dog!
The swimming pool was the best thing, yet the indoor one, was like a puddle! Hot sweaty and tiny! Very clammy1 Luckly the weather was good enough to stay out in the out door one! The entertainment was dry and very boring!

Like i said many may agree or disagree! But if your lucking for a good time with nice facilities and food! And Staff do NOT go there! Malta is a beautiful place but that hotel, shouldnt be allowed in a beautiful place like that!

My husband and I had a holiday here in 2004 booked by our children, we read the reports after it was paid for, but I would like to say that it is a basic hotel and could do with some updating. The beds and sheets were clean in our room and a lady called Katherine who was lovely cleaned this every day. There was nothing wrong with the food, all the staff and reps was very friendly and helpful and we went back in 2005 with my daughter and two grandsons, this year 2006 we have booked again, my daughter and her son plus our two granddaughters will be going can not wait.

Firstly the flight was amazing, the plane had leather seats it was like going 1st class as you had so much room and the pilot was great telling us where to we were so we could see out of the windows. About the hotel-like others I was really worried about this hotel, I think it must be famous for being bad but to be honest we found it very clean (they were cleaning 24/7) and the facilities were excellent. Our room was light and spacious and not at all smelly, the only smell I smelt was disinfectant in the main corridor and paint. I found that most people who went there came back many times and some British holiday makers went to the palm court and have now moved to the island (not that bad then eh?) the area is fab, a 5 minute walk from Bugibba where the best bars can be found (Fat Harry's, the karaoke bar) and the shops are best there, the bus station is a 3 minute walk away so the location was great for us. the best night club is called Faugos and is located just around the corner from palm court towards the beach, close but not close enough to hear it if you want a quiet night in, I never heard it anyway its a salsa bar. The staff are friendly; the food is delicious although there is so many full English u can have, thank goodness they give u toast or cereal too! the staff are friendly and helpful, and the cleaner was a star for us (as u can imagine we left our room in some states and came back and it was spotless) they were so kind there, our flight home was early in the morning, so they provided tea and coffee and some breakfast in reception which they didn't have to. The only thing I can say is try Cisk the local ale it's so nice and light and refreshing I had to bring some home as I don't even like lager! oh and if you get the chance go to the Island of Comino and see the blue lagoon, its the most beautiful place I have ever been it was like being in the Caribbean the water was so clear. sorry to ramble on but I feel that I have to stick up for this great little hotel as I loved it and have recommended it to everyone and have already booked again for Sept. I dont know what all the fuss is about. I read reviews on the hotel after I booked and I nearly jumped out of my skin. I became afraid to go but once there, yes it was crowded and full of loud people, which isn't uncommon of the British anyway, but my purpose was to get out and have a good time with my partner and two kids. I realised very quickly how mostly family orientated the hotel is and the result is probably a untidy hotel which otherwise would not be if there were no kids around. No wonder the staff cant keep on top of things. But cleanliness is an issue that can be resolved if customers persist. But as I found if you ask for the room to be cleaned again then it is done asap. The noise can be a problem but sorry to say....it is unfortunately the British that come trampling in at 2,3,4 in the morning drunk and very loud impolitely disturbing poor children that have been running around all day tired and exhausted. I think this is where the hotel was at its lowest point as the staff did not do much to restrict late night noise from guests. Qawra is ideal for getting around the island and you can get to a sandy beach in half an hour even less. Having said that our kids loved the lido which was only 5 min walk from the hotel and they had kids entertainment in the pool too. There is an entry fee but not much. As far as I'm concerned you definitely can not complain for the money. The island is beautiful. Get out and see it. It does not require a luxury hotel but a functional one. And the Palm Court does just that. It even feeds you a reasonable meal thats better than school dinners. (much appreciated on half board when the kids have spent all you money). This ain't no Butlins so get out and enjoy the weather.

Had a really bad time with this hotel. Booked it throught malta bargains and what a cock-up! The hotel smelt the staff was unhelpful they couldn't care less if you was happy with your room or not. They had no class in customer service/care and as for my flight home.. It didn't exist! Had to have a major row with the reps to get a flight home! So DO NOT BOOK YOUR HOLIDAY WITH THESE GUYS.. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER LOVELY PLACES IN MALTA TO SAY... GOOD LUCK!
