Staff and Maltese people are really friendly and always try to help. 1km walk from hotel to the bus stop is along a very uneven badly lit road with no footpath.Buses are frequent and cheap. Beach is about 2500m walk down a steep hill, there is a free bus from the hotel 3/4 times a day. The hotel reception can order taxis to wherever you want, but they take a commission.Do it once then take a card off the drivers and call them yourself. The drivers will probably tell you this anyway.To/from the village costs about 3.50Lm each way.Bugibba about 6.50Lm each way Hotel is mostly full of Germans aged roughly 55 and above. Food is pretty good, lots of selection. If you're on B&B basis this costs 7.50Lm for an evening meal.Eat as much as you like. Rooms are cleaned everyday and for the most part they are good. But they don't wash it off the cleaning product properly,so need to wipe it again yourself before you use it. General Issues- -Front automatic door was out of use from when we arrived (repaired the day we left) -No english speaking tv channels except euronews -no radio/cd player which have been available in all other hotels stayed in, even 2 star! -no tea/coffee making facilities in rooms -outside pool is not heated and from about 4pm onwards the entire pool area is in the shade from the hotel building so it gets pretty cold. -Indoor pool is only 85cm deep at one end and 115cm at the other. Its about 7m long,so can’t really swim in it.Steps entering both pools have slime on them and gets very slippery. -Sauna is often broken. The wooden step was broken and no attempt was made for it to be fixed even though reported it.The light didn’t work and the whole time there is an annoying buzzing sound. -Shower in the pool area had no shower head and curtain had been pulled down. These were reported first day and fixed day before we left. -there are lots of cats around the hotel, they are often roaming around reception and corridors outside the rooms, plus saw them drinking out of the pool. There was a dog at one point. -There was rust around the bath and radiator.I've got pictures if theres a way to post them here. -An iron is available from reception, but no ironing board & they will want it back pretty soon.Maybe they only have one? -Charlie's bar in the hotel is nice enough.Lots of really old slot machines though and drinks are really expensive compared to other pubs we went to. -Selmun bar and restaurant was excellent.Closest place to hotel approx 500m away. Good food and cheap plus very friendly staff. Its closed on Mondays. They probably lose out on quite a lot of trade as quite a few people I spoke to also intended to go there their last evening. -Reflections.Approx 1500m away. Good food and atmosphere and not too expensive. Caesar salad not exactly the healthy option due to amount of dressing and cheese. -Cross keys pub.Approx 1400m away. Good music and atmosphere.Cheap drinks. I think Monday is some kind of UK ex-pats darts league. -Chinese restaurant on the hill in Mellieha village(few door down from HSBC). 1900m away steer clear of set menu b as made us both ill. -If looking for nightlife, this is not the place. Need to get taxi to Bugibba. Fat Larry’s & O'Reilly’s Irish bar are good.
