We have just returned from a 28 day stay in this hotel and enjoyed it very much.Staff were very nice and helpful, nothing a problem. The only thing was on St Valentines day the hotel was crowded with local people, for the dinner dance.
But everyone enjoyed themselves and the atmosphere was nice and friendly.Have booked for next year, same time, same room I hope.

Our room was disappointing, mainly due to the tatty bathroom .i.e. Rusty shower head, therefore marking in the bath. Hand basin cracked, but generally plenty of hot water after first night. Chambermaid regularly forgot to correctly make up beds, but cleaned up well. Wardrobes nearly drove me crazy, mostly because of those awful hangers coming adrift!! The situation is fantastic and so are facilities. The meals were generally good-if a bit restricted for choice. About four of the evening meals out of the fourteen were poor as regards to the main course. We, along with others, got the impression that the French were getting a bit better treatment than the Brits and the French "gentlemen" would occasionally sit down to dinner, wearing shorts. In all,we would return to the Mellieha Bay hotel-just for the situation, but specifically ask NOT to be housed in Room 404.

Our second year at Mellieha Bay Hotel. Last year we wanted to see Malta, this year to relax and unwind. This is the perfect place to do it. The staff are always cheerful and helpful, the food is delightful with something for everyone's taste. I ate really well and I can be a fussy eater! The facilities are great with plenty of choice to sit and relax by a pool or on the private beach. The rooms are lovely - not fussy but comfortable and kept spotless. Thanks everyone - see you next year

Great family hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed for 1 week and wished we had booked for 2 as we did not want to go home. The rooms were basic but spotlessly clean, travelling with teenagers as well as a 5 year old we were put in connecting rooms which was great. The pools were lovely, the kids club was excellent. Staff very friendly and helpful, food was quite adequate with plenty of choice. We recommend the bbq by the pool for something different. We will certainly stay here again when we return to Malta.

After being to Malta 3 times, this was the best hotel we had been in, by far! The food was great, accomodation was great!

Absolutely loved it!

Have recently returned less than a week ago from this lovely hotel where my son and I took a week long holiday. I had heard it was a good hotel but it far surpassed my expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was plentiful, varied and of excellent quality, the rooms very comfortable and clean, and the view was out of this world across the bay, especially at night. The gardens were very pretty too and quite a few couples were getting married in the grounds whilst we were there. It is very idyllic and romantic a place I felt.

If you are looking for a peaceful relaxing break where entertainment is not your top priority then I would recommend this hotel wholeheartedly. There are 2 main swimming pools and 2 smaller ones, with one suitable for babies and toddlers. The poolside was never busy or rowdy, and I can imagine even in high season this would still be the case as there are two poolside areas. We preferred the Jamaica Inn poolside because it was quieter and with a shallower pool. You also have the beach just a 5 min walk away if you prefer.

I am definitely planning a return trip to this hotel and to the lovely island of Malta and its people.

Definitely not 4* standard

Just back from the most disappointing holiday I've ever had, all due to the hotel.

PROS:
- Lovely views
- Pleasant reception area

CONS:
- No non-smoking rooms in hotel (according to receptionist)
- Rude, unhelpful staff
- Smelly bathroom towels (if you must go to this hotel, you really should bring your own!)
- Poor quality food

we love it

We love Mellieha Bay Hotel. We are returning for our 4th consecutive year in November 2004. The rooms were quite basic last November and could do with a coat of paint, but that is the only negative point we can say. The staff are brilliant especially Joeseph the bar manager, Carmen and Brian the waiter. The food is excellent, allways hot and what a choice. The sports available are great, plenty to entertain the kids and adults. Entertainment is good, and we have made lots of friends who return each year at the same time with us. The view from the balcony is fantastic and as we live only a minutes walk from the beach we are used to seeing a lovely view. Mellieha is breath taking. To many activities to do, too much food to eat, too much drink andtoo much fun to have. Dont miss it.

Lovely Views - Awful Rooms

We stayed at the Mellieha Bay Hotel for one week just arriving back. Will start with the good points: Can't fault the views they are wonderfull, as are the pools and beach. Reception area and lounge are nicely decorated and comfortable as are the outside terraces. Food was plentiful with a good choice. Bad points: Hotel is too far away from any town, too remote for any evening stroll and local bars etc. You have to either see the island by bus, which is fun, but they stop around 6pm or hire a car. The hotel rooms are awful, very, very basic and the walls are paper thin, definately not 4 star!! They could certainly do with upgrading, as could the dining room. Entertainment was not good, could definately do with more choice. Staff could do with lessons in being friendly and polite! This hotel was not for us. Would suit anyone looking a very quiet peaceful time who like to spend a lot of time at their hotel. But for us it was too remote with nothing to do in the evening. While Malta is a lovely island, we will return, but not to this hotel nor would we recommend it to anyone.

mixed feelings

Just returned from 2 weeks stay at Mellieha Bay Hotel. We found that the hotel should be 3* although rooms were clean but basic. We are a middle aged couple but found the hotel much too quiet and isolated at night with nowhere to stroll and "people watch". Food was very good with something to suit everyone. Lovely pools and nice beach with free loungers providing you can be down before 9 a.m. If you are looking for a holiday to relax this is the place for you as everyone seems to go to bed at 10.30p.m

excellent
