My 25th time Hotel Serena

I have been coming to Hotel Serena and to Gozo since 1983. I always stayed
with my wife and two children in this hotel. I saw it grow up with me.
This hotel is so clean and friendly. I recommend it to families like me with children.
My last visit was last October. I was allocated a new refurbished family suite
beautifully decorated overlooking Xlendi bay. The new indoor heated pool
is a gem, wonder of wonders. Food is excellent and abundant, no one
can fault this hotel. I was surprised that in October this hotel was full of tourists with many British, Swiss, Germans and French. Lively Cabaret Shows every evening in the hotel restaurant make Hotel Serena a very popular choice. I thank all the Hotel Serena Staff for their kind hospitality and kind caring to me and my family. I will return again
to Gozo and Hotel Serena.

We stayed for a week on half board. I had expected to pay just under £400 for the food and transfers. The room having already been paid for through the Gift company. When we arrived the credit card details were taken and I expected to receive an account on leaving. No account was offered and when I asked he said it was all taken care of.On returning home I discovered that approx £750 had been taken from our card the day we arrived.
I am seeking to recover the excess charges from my card company.I have also written and complained to the Gift Company who are still promoting this hotel on their web site. Just be warned.
Rip off merchant Joe

I stayed at this hotel from 23rd to 30th May 2007.We were given a cost from Joe for the tranfer to the hotal from the airport, but after checking we discovered we could better his costings by 75%.On booking in at the hotel we were told by Joe about meals, I questioned this as we had been told the holiday was self catering and we had brought our own food. Three times he said there was no extra charge. He then asked for a credit card and produced a form which I read, it basically said that if during the holiday we caused any breakages we were liable and that was why the credit card was required. I was then asked for my pin number I niavely entered this as there was no amount showing and I expected at the end of my stay to settle up and sign for the appropriate amount. No costs were ever mentioned. During our stay we began to hear disturbing reports about Joe and because of this I rang the credit card company and to my horror discovered that the eqivilant if £1261.01. had been taken from my credit card.This amount had been taken on the day of my arrival On confronting him he said it was for utilities and an upgrade and told me to sort it out with the credit card company. No costs were ever mentioned in my dealings with Joe and I was not issued with a receipt from the pin machine. The only price list I ever saw was for the wine. I have deliberately kept this review short as other people heve commented on the accommodation(not good), We eat in the Restaurant twice, the food was not bad, The biggest complaint is Joe is a fraudster and a liar.I am still trying to sort out the matter with my credit card company.
