On arrival we were put into a different room to our booking our room was changed the next day but had the previous guest's linen on the beds. The floor was not swept in 13 days and the balcony doors were filthy. The cold water was so slow running the shower was dangerous. The pool area had blocked jets and the smell was awful. We were told any complaints see your rep and every time we went to see her she was never there. We actually managed to see her the day we were leaving and had not been told we lodged a complaint our first day but took note of our problems but told us that ours was one of many. They advertise a gym and sauna not available and the indoor pool was only opened after complaints that the weather was so wet that people had nothing to do. The pub was closed for decoration the whole fortnight and seemed no where near ready to reopen. I cannot believe this hotel can operate as a 4* as other hotels in Bugibba of a lesser rating were much better I can honestly say had this have been my first visit to Malta it would have been my last I would not advise anybody to stay there. Thankfully we hired a car and only used the place as a base after four days of hoping for improvement
Poor service

The whole experience that I had at the Topaz hotel was one the worst I have ever encountered and do not wish to repeat it. They were not friendly and had very poor attuides toward us hoildaymakers. My hotel room was through a tunnel under a road and up the other side so across from the actual main hotel part. The food was abysmal very poor standard for a four star hotel. I personally would never entertain the though of returning here again very, very poor. Don't stay at the topaz not worth the money or hassle.
Nice friendly staff + a nice hotel!

As a young couple we were only interested in a bed for the nights and a tidy clean room.we certainly got that here.
the only doenside is that we were on the route to the dining area so mornings were a little noisier that usuall and we were one of the only few rooms it seamed that didnt have a balcony.
however the pool (indoor and outdoor) were good just to sit and relax by along with the bar by the side.
Breakfast was always very nice, and the english pub in the hotel was an added bonus.
The town centre is only a 10 mins walk away, which we found was good because it is slightly quieter.
This is the first time we have been to Malta but will deffinatly be comming again, and probably stopping at this hotelagain as the staff were so welcoming and friendly.
Well worth a try!

Paid a lot of money to be put in the other part of the hotel called the Oriana! Great view, OFF A WALL AND FIRE EXIT, and a view from the other as we got a room right in the corner, enough space for 1 chair and 1/2hr of sun. Had to go through a tunnel and up alift which wass very smelly and graffitti was every where, not to mention the wires hanging out of the panel. Was cooler this year so the pool was freezing and indoor pool not open. Food from the night before was out for breakfast next morning, if you have children not a great selection of sweets at night as they mostly contained alcohol and tasted like frozen deserts. Glad we had friends there and went out a lot at night as the night entertainment was not great. 1st room was very filthy and 2nd was cleaner but not great
Wouldnt class as 4* as the title says great foyer for £ml makeover shame about the rest of the hotel.

I'd recommend a stay at the Topaz.

We stayed for a week on a bed and breakfast basis. To our surprise, we'd been allocated a fully equipped kitchen/lounge/diner. The breakfasts were good. The guests were a good mix of British, French, Italian, Dutch, German and all seemed happy.
The only complaint about the hotel (minor) was that some of the furnishings looked a little "tired" but everything was very clean and hotel staff friendly and efficient. Bugibba had much improved since our stay 10 years ago and there are two pedestrianised streets, 10 minutes' walk away, with a huge choice of restaurants with good food and friendly service - all with seating outside, lit by decorative lighting. You can also sit in restaurants overlooking the sea but it was a little windly because it was late in the season.

The hotel was lovely, the staff were brilliant - so helpful, all our requirements were met, and all our needs were too. Would def go back, the pools gorgeous, as are the veiws of the proper side of Malta from the balconies.

dont go to bugibba dont go to bugibba there are plenty of other places in malta that are way cooler!!!
If you want to see the history get a local guide If you want to see and learn the local history get a local guide. I normally do not take many tours when I go on vacation. I can find most of the information I need on the internet and use local transportation. I was very glad I made an exception with Malta. Our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful.
