I stayed here last winter. Affordable and pleasant. Friendly staff. I wasn't so impressed with the half-board menu but being in Malta it's really the weather which makes the holiday for me. The hotel itself is clean and has some amenities but being in the centre of the Bugibba/Qawra resort it's easy enough to find what you're after. I'd recommend the Mavina to folk looking for a quiet holiday.

Well what can I say!! I've stayed in Buggiba 6 times in the past and always been pleased. But this time was awful. Our room had no a/c and the fan was broken. Even after asking for it 2 be fixed in never was in the 2 wks we stayed there. The food was k. but one night our chicken was raw!! The hotel used to be one of the best around however now it is disgusting! Although the staff are friendly and kind. The hotel itself is awful. I have been going to Malta for the last 10 years and this was my worst experience!!!!!!! The Mavina is much betta cheap basic but very quiet and small!!

This was the worst holiday I have been on. The rooms were disgusting. There was even a pubic hair on one of the pillows and dry sick on one of the wardrobes. My son got and ear infection from the pool and I had food poisoning from one of the restaurants in town as I ordered A PRAWN COCKTAIL AND THERE MAGGOTS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE GLASS BOWL!!!!! THE WHOLE HOTEL AND AREA WAS FILTHY. I DON'T KNOW HOW ANY BODY WOULD WANT TO GO BACK TO THIS SH** HOLE

The room we were given was absolutely filthy. The cupboards in the kitchen were falling off. The fridge had rotting remnants from previous occupants and rust in the bottom. The carpet (yes carpet) was filthy in both the living room and bedroom and had sticky stains all over it. The bathroom was filthy. The staff were unwilling to help. Take my advice DO NOT STAY HERE AT ANY COST.

Well,I went to BHC and was worried by reviews posted here.
I am a unbiased,and sensible person who travelled with my wife and 4 children;
This Holiday was as I was hoping it would be- 'Real Malta' is how I would judge it.
The hotel was basic, sometimes laughably so,
But it had charm, warmed by the great Staff and Guests staying there. The Ritz it 'aint but the Holiday Inn Med' Style it is!!
Food is ok-more school dinners than Jamie Oliver,
But choice is good and myself and my family ate well all week.
All staff were polite and attentive and the type of guests staying seemed to know what they were getting.(a lot of repeat guests)
Entertainment was laughable- I cant believe they were getting paid for such rubbish!
But we went out in the evenings and had a wonderful time in Bugibba,Coastline is buzzing with Bars and Restaraunts but catering more for families than Singles.
I would definately go back to Bugibba Holiday Complex,it is somewhere to stay that is quietly charming,non-pretentious and very Maltese!!
If you are looking for up market chic however-this is not for you !!

Having read some of the reviews of BHC after booking my wife and I were a little concerned that it might not be the best place to take our 2 young children. How wrong we were.
The rooms are basic but clean and tidy with daily maid service. The complex is nice with all required facilities in good working order ( a lick of paint could be used in some places, but it appears that this is ongoing). The staff were friendly and helpful and great with the children. The entertainment was good, catering for all tastes and no one minded that 4 little girls (2 - 4years old) and one little boy (6yrs) were playing and dancing in the bar ( some even enjoyed watching them!!). We took some organised tours, took some trips out under our own steam and spent some days just lazing by the pool which made this an unforgettable holiday.
The complex is well situated, less than 10 mins walk from the bus station from where the entire island can be accessed from, 5 mins walk from the main square and seafront where there is a veritable cornucopia of restaurants to cater for all tastes. The food has a definite Italian influence with pasta, pizza and seafood being served most places, there is also a strong english influence in most of the restaurants.
Anyone who expected a 5* holiday would be upset with BHC but anyone who takes it for as it is and uses it as a base to explore a beautiful, friendly and sunny island should find it wonderful.

Went to Bugibba on 16th-30th Aug 2005, when we arrived at the complex it took 45 mins for the staff to check you in. When we got our keys we was given a room which was right of reception and on the third floor, when reaching our room we couldnt believe it, there was one window in all the apartment, so you had to keep the lights on, no balcony and no view only of an overgrown garden. It was dirty, disgusting and I wouldnt put a stray dog in it. We immediately went to reception and complained, we were given a room left of reception, 6th floor, this was totally different, even courtesy bottle of wine. We wouldnt rate this hotel to anybody, it was dirty, entertainment was rubbish, kids entertainment was rubbish. We didnt even let our kids in the pool because the water looked murky and unclean. Our apartment and bedding was changed once in 2 weeks. If anyone goes there you want rooms left of reception, above floor 3 and an odd numbered room. Warning, dont go there its a dump and needs renovating, if you want a nice hotel in Bugibba go to one called the New Dolmen. Bugibba holiday complex should be a 1 star rating.
