If you are interested in a badly renovated former dormitory with gloomy hallways, shabby rooms with old, worn-out furniture, holes in the walls, damaged and washed-out towels, obscure stains on all types of textiles, then the Vicoria is the place to go. You cannot expect miracles for the prices they aks. However, cleanliness and intact equipment should be provided by anybody offering accomodation. The information on the hotel´s website is seriously outdated and misleading. Neither is the place located anywhere close to the old town, nor is there a hotel bar. The one they once ran was closed down more than a year ago. With regard to breakfast you better go to one of the nice cafés downtown. Even the prices are not a pro argument. You may find simple, but pleasant and centrally located accommodation in the same price range.

I had had some concerns about a property that advertises both proximity to the beach and the airport. Turns out the flights are so few, and the take-off path is on the side where they have no rooms, so the only noise we've heard in our room was that of the sea. Bathrooms are ceramic-tiled and brisk. For some C$60/night, this beachside property has good value for money ratio - similar properties were charging twice as much. I'd give them 10, but their "double with two beds" is a double with two twin-size beds. Oh well, after all, that's Europe.
