| The WORST experience ever in a hotel |
|
This was the very worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. Our travel agent booked two non smoking rooms for my parents and myself. When we arrived at the hotel, my parents and I decided to exchange rooms because my room was bigger and would accomodate more family and friends to visit with us. I had noticed that the room I agreed to take, smelled like cigarettes and I opened up with window and went to my parents room to visit. When I was ready to retire for the evening, I went back to my room and closed the window. I went to sleep around 11:30 and woke up around 3:00AM because my throat was burning from the cigarette smoke that permeated in the room. After drinking a bottle of water I decided to go to the front desk and let them know about the room. The man that I complained to said he remembered me and my parents and that he did notice the room smelled like cigarettes. He offered me some tea and stayed in the lobby and finished my cup. At 4:00AM, I didn't want to go back to my room and decided to go upstairs to the reading/TV area and lay down on the couch. I couldn't have been there more than 10 minutes when the front desk people finally decided to offer me another room on that particular floor. It was a twin but it didn't matter, at least I could finally get some sleep. I finally fell asleep at around 4:30AM I was again woke by very LOUD music at 5:00AM. I got up and opened my door to find a hotel maid cleaning the reading/TV area. When I told her about the LOUD music all she could do was point UP. I then left that room went back to my own room took a shower and got ready for the day. When my mom came to my room I was already packed and ready to get out of the hotel. When I told my mom the whole story, we went to the Lobby and asked to speak with the manager. The manager looked at the notes in the computer and proceeded to tell me that I was given another room. When I told him that I had slept 1/2 hour in that room before the LOUD music that was coming from the floor above he proceeded to tell me that he couldn't help what was going on outside. I told him that it was INSIDE the hotel. The Manager said Oh well there was nothing that he could do. While my mom and I were about to leave the front desk area, the same hotel maid was coming in our direction and I asked her to tell the manager what happened and she confirmed my story. Again, the same insensitivety was once again given by the Manager.
First I want to say if someone BOOKED a Non SMOKING room, please provide them with a NON Smoking room. Having stayed in that room, I had developed an allergic reaction and I was literally sick for the 10 days I was in Lithuania.
Second, when you bring hotel guests to a NON SMOKING room and it reeks of cigarettes. Please find them another.
Third, when a customer complains about their SLEEPING accomodations be sensitive to their needs because after all they are PAYING YOU to sleep in your hotel. Isn't that what hotels are for?? I paid $120.00 for approximately 4 hours of interrupted sleep.
